[Misc] Scam Calls

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Getting loads of these recently for some reason. Probably because TalkTalk had a major outage recently, so the scammers are all climbing on the band wagon. Total pain in the arse. I can't block them because every call shows up as a different (spurious) number.

I read somewhere of a bloke who turned his home phone into a £1 a minute premium line (he warned friends and relatives not to use it!). He kept these shit-faces talking for a long time until they gave up in disgust, and he made quite a bit of money out of it.

Anybody know how to do tis (a PM would do if you don't want to let the scammers in on the secret)!

I had a call from an Indian sounding lady a couple of months back, wanting to lend my business £5m. It was lunch time, so I thought I’d waste their time. Amicably, I said I was only interested if they could stretch to £10m. She put me onto a “senior colleague”, an Indian sounding gentleman. I managed to string them along for ages, without giving away any true information and it didn’t lead to a rip off phone bill. I was eating my lunch at the same time and tapping away on NSC .... multi tasking.
