It's modesty and also allowing for the fact that we may hit injuries or a few lousy ref's decisions.
It's too easy to take these things for granted and then the fans start getting restless.

Even Claudio Ranieri isn't going around claiming Chelsea are going to win the league despite spending millions. The only person who's arrogant enough to believe his team have the title in the bag is Wenger.
For anyone else to say things like that just sets you up for a fall, not to mention plenty of p1ss taking from opponents. Anyone remember "we can go unbeaten the whole season" from last year It was almost worth seeing United win the league just to annoy Wenger.
I'm with Coppell 100% on this one, keep things low key. Celebrate when it's all settled.

The point is don't shout it from the roofs let the football do the talking - despite being mightily pissed of whe CPFC staged the mother of all come backs in the FA Cup Semi-Final against Liverpool I thought SC never milked it and stayed off the pitch at the end.

Micky Adams did the same thing two seasons ago, he went even further saying that we wouldn't get promoted and would be happy if we survived in this division...
