Save the only pub in London

If you can find an alternative route between London Bridge and Blackfriars that is capable of taking 24 trains an hour in each direction, I'd like to know where it would go.

On the campaign website it mentions going via the Elephant and Castle, but not knowing this part of London I wouldn't know if this would possibly work.

It would mean missing London Bridge and the North Kent lines out of the Thameslink network altogether - unacceptable to millions of potential passengers who stand to benefit from the project.

Sorry but, nice though the Market Porter is, "Thameslink 2000" is more important. They can always build another pub.

MP Simon Hughes says Thameslink a "tragedy for the Borough".

Spot on big Si, I've always liked that bloke. Londons historic markets are nearly all gone, losing Borough would indeed be a genuine tragedy.

Except that what your BUMBUDDY MP fails to mention is that they wouldn't get rid of Borough Market altogether, just knock down some buildings.

... and put 16 lanes of trains through them. Hmmm can't see that effecting the Victorian atmosphere of the remaining 10 square metres of market. I say get behing big Si now!

The building s look lovely and it would be a great shame to knock them down, surely they could come up with a engineering solution that enables the viaduct to be built and the buildings to remain?
It's the 21st century for fucks sake!

As big Si would say, there's something nice about seeing men on top. And I also like markets when there are trains going overhead - I think that's part of what's nice about that area now. Plus I quite like trains that run on time and that's an awful bottleneck at the moment (which almost exclusively affects people that don't live in big bad botty-burgling Si's constituency). Enough of squeezing long cylindrical objects into openings that are too tight to handle them!

If we can squeeze a shard of glass in there, I'm sure there is plenty of room for you MoH. You just need to RELAX.
