I'm sure some of them are regretting the Chinese telecoms giant didn't show a hand. They would then have been able to shout "Huawei the lads!"

Not al all sininster. Hang on....I seem to be losing conscinsnees.......

Brilliant - but had the Chinese shown a hand the Saudis would probably have hacked it off: its part of their national sport.

Rumours of a takeover come up every transfer window.

A nation that considers women second class citizens, persecutes homosexuals, and still carries out medieval punishments including public beheadings, stoning to death, firing squads, amputations and lashings (for adultery).

Lovely, NUFC. You dive right in and wallow in all that lovely arab cash for some millionaire striker who'll help drive you towards 6th, or whatever.

Yes, it’s incredibly RACIST to mock the Saudis for the absolutely ****ing barbaric practice of chopping off people’s hands in 2020. I’m so offended.

Well yes. There's no racism is saying a regime does something (especially when they do).

I wonder if there is anyone in the world, who could turn up with the promise of beating the Joelinton transfer record, who Newcastle fans wouldn't tolerate on moral grounds? Probably not

The House of Saud are no different to the oligarchs using money to future proof themselves in the West for when the oil eventually does run out. Same plan. Same strategy. Just gotta buy enough influence in democracies desperate enough to take their cash in return for turning a blind eye. You can literally get away with murder in this country we’re so corrupt-able. Table for two in Salisbury anyone?

I don’t doubt it, he’s a billionaire. Just don’t understand the anger about ‘national treasures’ not being amongst the top payers of tax in the U.K.

My point was some of those held in high esteem are also those that choose to live offshore and avoid paying tax in the country that made them great and still support them, be they sports stars, former sports stars or celebrities. I agree Monaco etc are great places to live but I feel you should always give something back.

Presumably if they get relegated Steve Bruce gets invited to a meeting in the basement of the Saudi embassy.

If only he would give something more back to his employees and not subject them to Dickensian work conditions.
