This should no doubt be on the Away Travel Section, but anyway....

Saturday, Southend - not been by train before - understand that Prittlewell, rather than Southend Central is the nearest?

From London Bridge is it quicker to:

Go by Tube to Stratford, and take the train from there.

OR

Tube from LB to Liverpool Street, and Train from there.

Many thanks.

Will just walk from whatever pub we end up in by Southend Victoria, as is only a 15/20 minute walk topps, but prittlewell is closer.
If your booking trains, for some reason the cheapes way for me was to book brighton to east croydon, then east croydon to Southend, if anyone was interested:thumbsup:

You could save money by going to East Croydon, tram from there to Elmer's End, train from Elmers End to Lewisham, DLR to Stratford and then take the train from there.

If you have nothing better to do and are a really tight git that is.

Strangely enough according to the Transport for London Web site it's about the same time. Factor in that you have to use two tubes whether you got from Victoria or London Bridge (The former you could do in one by trudging round the Circle line) and there's a fair bit of walking at Liverpool Street it's not too surprising. You save money as you don't actually go into Central London. If you have an Oyster Card you save quite a lot.

Oh, there's a dirty great Tescos at Elmers End if you need to get a food or drink either coming or going.
