My recommendation is: don't leave it attached to the windscreen when you nip into the nearest cafe to pick up your lunch, unless you want to be seeing it in the window of Cash Converters within a couple of days.

...and make sure to wipe off the round mark that it leaves when you remove it from the windscreen, any thief worth his salt will deduce that the satnav is stashed in the glovebox or boot.

I have a Navman which never seems to get heavily recommended but I love it - it's got all of western Europe in there, plus it's a hands-free unit for your phone. I think it's decent.

To be fair as I move around a lot with work my SatNav has saved me a lot of time and money. Last week I had to go to Redhill Aerodrome and my TomTom Satnav gave me a shorter (and quicker) route than either Mapquest or Multimap.
