I thought he looked very good against Swansea, not sure he will feature in the league this season but he certainly looks promising.
Turns looked quality against Swansea too.

My view is that Sarmiento and Tolaj are more likely to play league football this season than Locadia

IMO the best part of the goal is the skill from Tolaj

Although cooking, I watched the whole game. Tolaj was the player that stood out -- it was the first time I've seen him play properly. Strong, quick, skilful, good in the air, knows where the net is.
Him and Ferguson look extremely promising.
Mind you, Sarmiento looks the business too. He's got incredible pace over short distances, which is a tell-tale sign of a good player for me. But that was a special control and finish against Leicester.

Almost as if the club knew what it was doing when not buying that fancy schmancu £25m striker...

I was very impressed with this lad against Swansea. I said to my uncle at the time that he had the look of Ronaldo but shorter.

Looks super skilful low centre of gravity and quick. This guy could be a real find.

The Walsall fans thought he was our best player on the night, they would like him to keep his mate Rushworth company!

:lolol:

I reckon he’ll be on the bench at palace.

A few clips of him against Swansea here, followed by some clips from a previous game for Benfica. The analysis (in Spanish) is quite reasonable, basically saying he's had a good start but don't expect to see him in the first team until the next cup game against Leicester, and maybe a few cup games thereafter (directed at Ecuadorian fans I assume).

Your comment reminded me of the first time I saw Tolaj - in the highlights provided by Biggleswade United of a pre-season friendly against Albion's U-18s in July 2018! Tolaj scored two goals in a 3-1 win.

This was my assessment at the time:-

Just watched this - I think our no. 17 who scored our first two goals is the new Swiss scholar, Lorent Tolaj. I like the look of him; two-footed, knows where the goal is, not afraid to get physical (although it was probably a foul just before he scored the first!). Will watch with interest how he gets on this season.

I'm happy to stand by that initial impression!

Incidentally, that same match featured the likes of Ed Turns, Odel Offiah, Jack Spong and Marc Leonard. I wonder where they are now.

For anyone interested, the highlights of that match are still available. Tolaj scores his goals on 10:46 and 12:00 in the video.
