It's an interesting comparison, because I suspect that both religious fanatics and 'The Truth' share the same fundamental reason for their peculiar belief systems - Hope.

Whereas religious fanatics hope for life after death, I suggest that the conspiracy nuts hope that once people realise "what is really going on" they will rise up and revolt for a better world.

Like with any type of delusion, I think both groups just need education (failing that, counselling). The problem with the Truth is that he doesn't seem willing to listen to the facts, due to his paranoid belief that most of it comprises of lies to control us.

He / She must be an impressionable teenager, that is the probable explanation.

The thing about television is the same about all media (mainstream or not). It all has it's bias and it is up to the individual and for schools to teach media literacy. Television like all media can deliver truth if it is accessed thoughtfully, discerningly and intelligently. Individuals must filter the information presented, they must think about why information is presented and what information is left out. This is same as all media.

The sad fact (and irony) is someone reading conspiracy theory websites and watching conspiracy youtube videos is just as gullible and misinformed as someone watching O'Reilly on Fox.

If you look at a map of New York there are a lot of places with Sandy Hook in their title, most notably Sandy Hook Bay which is in New Jersey.

It doesn't take a great deal of imagination to come to the conclusion that while looking at prospective place names for the new Batman movie they did the same thing and picked Sandy Hook as a coincidence. It takes a great deal of imagination to conclude that they foresaw the shootings or where anything to do with them.
