What baffling logic. We try to sign a player in the summer. As do Sheffield United. He turns us both down.
In January Sheffield United have an outside chance of Europe. We don’t. Sheffield United sign him.

A version of moneyball all is about right. Just the bit where your recruitment team spend modest millions on gems to polish is replaced by a recruitment team who spend modest millions on duds who get shipped out.
