I can kind of see where you were coming from having been an Albion fan under some fairly poor managers.

I was also a bit surprised at bringing in Sandaza if only because he seems to be the same sort of player as Holroyd (although perhaps more the finished product) and Gus already put his hands up that we don't play the right game for him. Maybe he can see that Fran has that extra bit of vision which is the difference for Gus to take a chance on him while he perhaps doubts that young Chris will be able to develop the same skills to the same level?

As to having not known what he was getting, I don't honestly think so. Our scouting network now appears to be as efficient as our coaching set up. Doesn't fancy him? Very doubtful indeed. From what he has said in public Gus has seen enough in training when Fran is fit to know what he might do for us.

Will he (and if so when will he) actually be fit and able to produce? THAT is where the jury is out for everyone Gus included

Same sort of player as Holroyd? I'd say they are very different!

Gus wanting another striker is nothing to do with Sandaza IMO. Beyond Murray and Barnes there is not a lot there and for the sake of having more options we need another striker. It would be good if said striker was better than what we already have (difficult with Murray's form at the moment), because, with all due respect, Murray and Barnes are probably not having too many sleepless nights at the prospect of Hart or a half-fit Sandaza taking their place up front.

Brighton and Hove Albion | Match | Preview | Team News: Albion v Exeter City

My imagination or is Gus beginning to sound a little peeved?

"he was getting better ten days ago then he had anoother problem. Then he was getting better again and then he had another problem...............................we are having a big meeting this afternoon"

Higher than his thigh is his GROIN .... which is the injury he had for the best part of whole year at Dundee United!

Was a sick note at Dundee which is why they got shot.

Was always a risk for us and looks a bad choice.

We simply have to sign a striker or 2 in January as we can't rely on having no injuries up top

I've had a 50 quid bet with my mate that Sandaza won't start more than 12 games for us this year which was purely based on his career stats just after we signed him.

This bet looks better by the day.

Stats so far:

Appearances 3, goals 1. Not really that bad on paper is it?

I am sure that being in the position we are in we will bring in another striker in January.

If Murray (or indeed Barnes) were to get injured at the momentthere ain't a lot left.

True, but I don't think that's the problem. Poyet sounds worried by his injuries.

My concern is the amount of negative shit that has been aimed at him, he's played 3 times FFS, and scored once, yet he's had so much criticism. He's at a new club, playing a new style of football, having to live in a new town, and [some of] the fans have given him 3 (sub) appearances and started laying into him. We know those guys read some of the stuff posted about them here and there, perhaps he's not been able to take it as well as some might expect, manifesting itself in niggling injuries and a lack of enthusiasm to get back in the side.

Think what you're trying to say is ' he ain't fit and wasn't nhen he signed?

he clearly was "fit" when he signed but with a limited pre-season he was not match fit. Did we play him too soon? We know he overdid it in training when he first arrived. And yes, he might be a sicknote and he might never play another game this season. Or he might get fit and start banging in the goals. We don't know and obviously we will speculate until we do. Rumour is that he is at least in part on a pay as you play deal so maybe not a big issue financially and - fortunately - we are getting along ok without him right now. The big questions are what will Gus decide to do now and what will he do in January?

I don't think Sandaza's a bad player & he's obviously a good goalscorer.
But as a club we can't depend on him in any way shape or form if he's carrying a constant injury & his future should be doubted
