I know Neuer has said he is open to the possibility to leaving Bayern, would probably cost £40/£50m which they could amortise over 7 or 8 years.

I think just for his final year. Can't see Real Madrid wanting to buy him with Coutois presumably coming back sometime around next season and having to also fund Mbappe's wages

To be fair, he was a good keeper for us under Potter and in the right team could still be a more than decent no. 1. The problem is, Chelsea have a track record of signing expensive goalkeepers (Kepa, Mendy, Courtois, Sanchez) who all have one thing in common: they have a clanger in them. Patience is thin at that shambles of a club anyway, so signing a keeper from a club most of their fans seem to despise/pity/obsess over who turns out to be more of the same was never going to end well.

I half feel sorry for him.
He was on the brink of becoming Spains first choice keeper (perhaps second choice) at the same time as he got benched with us.

If he just stuck it out and fought for his place (or stuck with RDZ’s GK format), he may well be Spains #1 today.

I think the authorities will amortise over 5 years for FFP calculations...but the clubs can still do over 8 years in the contract if they want. Or, I'm totally wrong.

This applies only for new signings / contract changes after June 2023 (UEFA rules) / December 2023 (Premier League rules). It's not been backdated to capture the Chelsea splurges.

I feel like an absolute strawberry fool, he's 37 anyway so doubt they would amortise until he's 45....or would they?
