Watching from Upper Tier yesterday, it just felt like watching an Italia 90 match in the San Siro.. amazing stadium

I'm going to Milan in July and we'll be visiting the San Siro and doing the ground tour. Alas, no match to watch, but I can at least make comparisons!

I was chatting with those sat around me yesterday and mused what it would be like to follow a team who played in a stadium like Cardiff every week, I guess only the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and the Milans can answer that question.

It also made me wonder if Cardiff City ever made it into the Premiership whether they would try to play their games there, it is a horrible and frightening thought, a stadium like that could propel them towards being one of Europes larger clubs.

I was at the San Siro in february for the Milan-Inter derby. It was a Milan home game and we were in the away end with the Inter fans. That was absolutely sensational but for atmosphere yesterday was every bit as good. San Siro is slightly bigger and more impressive than the Mill Stad but the latter is easily the biggest and best stadium i've been to in the UK. Knocks Celtic Park into a cocked hat. Only criticism I would have is that the acoustics for the top tier were atrocious.

We're building our own new stadium a few miles down the road. It will be able to hold 58,000 when it's finished, although stage one will see the capacity set at 30,000.

City will never use the Millennium Stadium. The stadium's owners charge way too much rent. It wouldn't be financially viable for the club to use it.

I think the Millennium is closest to the Bernabeu. Seem quite small and very enclosed when you're low down, which makes for a fantastic atmosphere.

That was amuch better atmos that the San Siro, and I saw three matches there during Italia 90.

The Mill Stad has all the benefits, noise-wise, of an enclosed roof that the San Siro doesn't.

Oh, and the Mill Stad wasn't full of Germans either........

Indeed, the WRU haven't got a clue. It's a shame though, because it would make a lot of sense for Cardiff to use that fantastic stadium. And of course, because it's multitiered, you could do what they do in the USA and close off the upper tier until the lower tiers have sold out, thereby maintaining some sort of atmosphere even when "only" 25,000 were in the ground.

(Shame to have missed you on Sunday by the way TLB)

The major problem is the position of the stadium in the centre of the city and the fact the roads around it have to be closed on match days. The local traders already play hell with the council because of lost revenue. They wouldn't stand for the city centre being closed to traffic every other weekend.

Besides, the club would never make sufficient money to survive in the top flight if they ever did use the stadium. A large portion of the ticket money for every game would go to the MS management company and the WRU. It's a non-runner from the start I'm afraid.

CCFC's new stadium complex will be a massive development. New hotel, conference centre, nightclub, retail outlets, training centres, athletics stadium, road links, etc. The aim is that the club will be generating most of its money from these facilities rather than just relying on ticket sales.

Shame to have missed you too. Maybe next year?!?

Just as Leon was blasting us into the 1st division, Luca Toni was sending Palermo back into Serie A for the first time in 30 years.

So its Stadium of Light, Elland Road and the San Siro, here I come.

It's true enough though Marshy. The old place has long since had its day. That's why we're building a new stadium across the road!

It'll be interesting to see whether stage 2 gets built or not. I would assume that this'll be entirely dependant on on field success.

Very much so. There are five planned stages in all:

1) 30,000 seats
2) 38,600 seats
3) 47,200 seats
4) 52,600 seats
5) 58,000 seats

Stage one is an initial two-tier 30,000 seater stadium (18,000 seats in the lower tier, 12,000 seats in the upper level). The other stages would then see an additional third tier added to each side of the ground as necessary.

The first part of the development is a new athletics stadium to replace the existing one, which will eventually be demolished to make way for the new football stadium. Work is expected to start during the summer.

I can't wait for the project to get under way. Let's be honest, Ninian Park should've been bulldozed years ago. We badly need a new ground.

Fingers crossed that you lot will also have some positive news on that front in the very near future.
