[Misc] Same numbers on the Lottery for 30 years

I play once a week, vary between the NL, Thunderball & Set for Life… I tend to pick random sets of numbers by shape… star constellation patterns - the kind of out there SHIT that’s bound to result in a HUGE win…

I’m trying to work out how to plot Ritchie Blackmore’s face in a kind of dot to dot pattern… guaranteed win.

Obviously, I’ve not yet won… but, mark me… I will win BIG one day… it’s just a matter of positive thinking & approx 10000 years.

True story, I knew a bus driver who won 500k on Thunderball… he was near retirement yet still kept doing his job… naturally I thought he was insane… he spent most of his winnings on paying his mortgage off, new car and a very high end hifi system… 30k speaker cable 😂 madness… but each to their own I guess…

I’d probs buy a 70s strat and be happy to invest the rest… you know, when I win more than £10 😂😆

NB no tales of “I had the same numbers for 27 years, stopped doing them and the following week they all came up and I missed out on £15,000,000” as you’ll just get the ‘chin rub’ gif
To be fair, this is a great way to tell that the person you are talking to is a total bullshitter. So it does have its uses.

Anyone here know winners of big prizes? MrsW knew a couple in Hove who about 20 years ago won the best part of £1m. They were only about 40 years of age. They gave up the rat race, paid off the mortgage and with no prior background became successful one refurbishment at a time property developers.

My aunt won the equivalent of £1m in 1972 from the pools. They’d been poor in a tiny rented flat near Ditchling Rise, a nice story in changing their lives.

Have just gone back to same numbers every week after ten years or so of lucky dips. Have won £5000 once plus a myriad of tiny wins once since lottery started but spent way, way more. I've never begrudged the cost though and just see it as a dreamer's fee, notwithstanding the very, very long odds.

I did start to do the lottery 30 years ago and stopped. I checked my number series on the historical site and found out I would have got 4 numbers twice. So I'm not out of pocket.

Same 6 numbers every week since it started. Often get a Lucky Dip and occasionally (very) whatever the lowest cash prize is at the time. Can't stop now though.

Yeah, this geezer (it’s probably why I still play)
This was 2006, I used to work with him in the 90s he wasn’t particularly well off but wasn’t afraid to graft often doing 6/7 day weeks. We had a few beers and a few laughs back then but lost touch and I only knew about this when I read it in the paper. We became “friends” on Facebook about 8 years ago but we have NEVER mentioned it.

EDIT: I’ve cut the top bit off, it was £8.4 MILLION!

The above will simulate winnings from various lotteries over years to demonstrate reality.

Anyone else? What have you won? I think I’m on 4 numbers about three times and 3 numbers about 20 odd times, that’s it 😞

This the dilemma we had.
Same numbers for 20 years with a few meagre winnings here and there.
Decided to stop at the beginning of 2024 with the decision of not looking at our numbers as a what if.
It'll send you mad if you keep looking.

Move on.....

Loads, but only because the private bank I worked for in the 90s was one of Camelot’s chosen advisory panel. I attended a few ‘cheque presentations’ back in the day, used to take a big wad of cash with me as a lot of winners primary concern was to go to the pub that day with all their mates but they couldn’t pop in with a 7 figure cheque. We looked after quite a few of the winners long term.

I remember you talking about that, genuinely interesting.

The Telegraph had a “Seven typical blunders by lottery winners” type of article. One of the biggest was spending almost all the money on an expensive home, not realising that house and garden costs can be a huge annual outgoing on a big place.
