Who knows whether he was premier league standard, he's never been given a chance with us.

In fairness when he went to Reading they had been competing for promotion and narrowly missed out.

I liked Little Sam, and will always remember him for the role he played in helping get us promoted, but nothing lasts forever, it was time for both parties to move on.

Much as he wasn't going to be a major threat in the PL, I honestly think we never properly replaced what Sam bought us with his partnership with Murray / Hemed during the two years of 2015-2017 in the Championship. We changed style but Murray could sure have used a smaller, quicker partner alongside him at times in the PL under Hughton.
