You misunderstand me.

The point is that if there are a dire selection of politicians available, that isn't really the fault of the politicians themselves. They got to a point of seniority or leadership in their party because their party believes they are the most electable. Both major UK parties have had the chance to elect relatively sensible leaders (Burnham, D Miliband Stewart) recently and failed so the individuals have walked away.

I actually find it hard to dislike, Johnson, Trump, Bolsonaro or any of the other ridiculous populist leaders springing up around them globe. They've never hid what they are. It's the cretins that keep voting them in that need to have a look at themselves

The British public has no appetite for politicians who tell awkward truths, make nuanced arguments or put the greater good above their greed and ambition. If they did have this appetite, we wouldn't be presented with the selections we get. The public in this country are (on average) stupid, ignorant, superficial and selfish. That's why the politicians we get are stupid, ignorant, superficial and selfish.

The countries who are populated with more sensible people, Germany, New Zealand, Scotland, Ireland, possibly Canada, have got much better politicians ... not by luck, but because they've demanded them and voted them in.

Ireland [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

The Political wing of PIRA are one of the three main parties, ffs give your head a wobble man.

Scotland, with Jimmy Kranky at the helm I’m now thinking your taking the piss, I’m gonna give my head a wobble.

Make people pass a test before they can vote, that will weed out the thickos.

Better still just let super brain know it all’s like you decide who should run country eh?

When will you and those similar realise you are the problem not the thicko’s, try a different approach and ignore and avoid debate with people that perhaps don’t follow your political line and perhaps they might not send you and the rest of the rude liberal elite a big **** you every time there’s a vote.

Believe me since I’ve known you it’s you that’s always on the losing side [emoji23]

Fair enough.

But the cretins who voted them in are the same as you and me, honest people finding it hard to dislike the likes of Boris and Trump because they are not hiding who they are, a sign of genuine honesty and fallibility. Writing off 30+ million people in this county as morons is just not a reasonable assumption and is broad brushing the issue. Saying that, I think we missed a hidden gem in Mr Stewart.

You are a very odd fellow. You seem to find reasonable comment absurd, and absurd comment reasonable.

I am quite relieved that Dominic Cummings seems to be in charge. At least we have someone who appears to have a brain. Johnson is a numpty but if he can get clever people in then so much the better.
My worry is that the new Chancellor is another ex Goldman Sachs person like the present Bank of England chief. They are everywhere and fuel my conspiracy theory. It’s not good for my mental health.

Miles off, Dominic Cummings only wants yes people and with Boris he’s got someone to do it for him.

I think nearer to the truth is the experience others had with Boris as Mayor. He quite liked the idea of being one but only if others did it for him.

Cummings is only powerful because Boris is lazy. He also has something that Boris is completely devoid of; a political ideology.

Where this relationship will break down is with Boris' addition to hugely expensive vanity spending projects in a way the North Koreans would applaud.

Millions were wasted by Boris as London Mayor (he was an absolute disaster in that regard) and now he has much money to play with.

Actually, he's a Wykehamist, which I believe means he's highly intelligent but fundamentally wrong.

Rather like Seumas Milne and James Schneider then, two Corbynistas in the Labour team, both Wykehamists.
