That's big of you. Everyone else move to accommodate you and your singing buddies as you're so much more important to the club than other fans.

You really are determined to die on the cross over this aren't you? But as safe standing no-doubt proves a success at other grounds it's inevitable it will come to The Amex.

When you say "everyone else move" we are probably only talking about one or two sections, probably in a corner like at Celtic Park, where you would be offered an alternative location if you prefer to be guaranteed to sit throughout the game. No doubt an improvement for many when currently they get random people standing in their view.

You must be the only person who hasn't noticed the often poor atmosphere at The Amex that a dedicated safe standing zone could help rectify.

He's just precious about his seat that's all.

We don't necessarily to be leaders on this. We can see how the other clubs get on, learn from their mistakes, wait until (hopefully) safe standing is approved and see the best way of implementing it in certain bits of the ground without too much fuss (there was a lot of noise about the shameful treatment of the Holmesdale regulars but i haven't heard any fallout in the places safe standing has been installed).

In short, let's make it work for us. Not just bin it off because of a nonsense survey where people on the halfway line of the East Upper don't want to give their seat.

Not so sure about that. The intrastructure has its limits.

When its increased capacity the club has, in the main, focused on additional premium seats.

The club has increased capacity from 20,000 to 32,000 in the last 10 years. There’s the odd new lounge but nearly all of them have been non premium seats .

Nearly all non-premium? Really? The expansion from 20 to 32 was the east upper, that box above the south east corner, lounges and seats behind the south, the dug out and the shelf, the corners plus squeezing seats together for this season. I thought all of these except the shelf and corners and squeezed seats were premium? That’s majority premium surely?

Or have I missed something?

Does Chailey mean: 1901, exec boxes and suites = premium, as opposed to everything else for the hoi polloi?

ESU, the 4 corners, the wings next to the WSU middle tier and the 1,150 found by squeezing up this summer, weren’t 1901.

Most of the North stand anyway and you still can't sing together. Perhaps it's because you can tape a list of chants and timings to the rail in front of that makes rail seating so important to you. You can all sing together then.

Like I said previously, personally don't think having a rail in front of you will make a blind bit of difference. What affects the atmosphere more than anything else is what's happening on the pitch.

Yes. That’s what I meant!

I was going to mention that. We all know Palace made a complete pig's ear of that - and that was just shuffling seats! What about the clubs that have installed safe standing such as Celtic? Is/was there any resentment from their fans who were in that area originally and were told that if they wanted to sit they'd have to move?

And those who are opposed to the introduction of safe standing at the Amex have ignored the question I asked Drew (which I'll ask again) - if I get a ticket in the North Stand, a designated seating area, can I complain if the person in front of me stands all match?

To answer your question, I suspect of course you can complain. Whether anything is done about it is another matter. However, the simple answer is don't buy a seat in an area where people stand. If you've never been before and have no idea on what happens then you might make that mistake once but you'd be a fool to buy one there again if you want or need to sit.

Yes I know you said that previously; you seem impervious to any reasonable counter-argument. And I am not in the NS; I directly overlook it from WSU and see about 5 different bunches in the NS trying different songs simultaneously and rarely anything loud emerges. I also see random people standing in different parts of the stand which must p1ss off those who need/want to sit.

Perhaps take a minute or two to look at Celtic's rail-seating section in action on YouTube. Everyone stands safely, everyone can see, and the atmosphere they generate is incredible...

Interesting that Celtic have ended up with the choreographed wanky Eurobollocks whoah whoah whoah drum and megaphone stuff. It would be a very sad day if any English Premier League team ever sank as low.

Not sure I've heard a reasonable counter argument!

Celtic aren't a great comparison as they are a club that are nearly always winning, we don't.

Instead of going to the cost of installing rail seating, why doesn't the club designate a certain section as the 'singing' section, maybe the area below the Police box and then actively encourage those that want to sing to relocate there and see if that makes a difference?

Edit: It does of course beg the question as to why those that want to sing haven't tried to relocate to that area anyway!

Doesn’t that go against your ‘Don’t make fans move’ policy?

The police box singers won’t move and neither will the screen singers, because they both believe they ARE the singing section, I’m sure the police box crew were a later addition though. The main groups can’t really hear eachother, mainly because of the distance probably, some effort is made to try to sing the same song at the same time if heard, but by then it’s mostly too late.

I’d say safe standing is a lot more safer, I’ve had my shins damaged many times! Southampton this season being one. Someone flew into the seats in front of me once at The Amex, could’ve been really nasty, but wasn’t luckily, that definitely wouldn’t have happened with rails.

The reason I’d want safe standing is that I’d rather be in a North Stand where everyone wants to stand (therefor more likely to sing) than be in one where half of them sit down for most of the game, like what happens now. I’m not saying fans have to move, they can choose to stay, great if they do, just means they will have to stand the whole game, tbh, that’s what the North Stand’s mentality should have always been,

I agree that the South East corner would be a good place for a standing section, it’s only about 150 seats though, but it could be a good place to start.
