Safe Standing – YES. Give fans a choice.
Following the recent announcement that the club are looking into the possibility of introducing a Safe Standing area should the law in England change; we are asking fellow Albion fans to publicly show their support for the campaign so that fans can have a choice.
Please print the poster saved here and hold it up at the start of Saturday’s game v Preston to show your support for the Safe Standing campaign.
Please also contact your MP here, asking them to support any future changes to legislation to allow Safe Standing in England.
You can find out more about Safe Standing on the Football Supporters Federation (FSF) website here.
Our understanding is that the club are in contact with the Safe Standing Roadshow and a visit to the Albion is being arranged. This will allow fans to experience the ‘Safe Standing’ (modern rail seat) system for themselves.
We have been contacted by the Albion with a view to finding the best time to highlight support of the Safe Standing campaign.
It is a complex issue that, as demonstrated by this thread, prompts reactions from a number of viewpoints. We have been pleased to see how this thread has promoted a wider understanding of how future changes might be implemented while causing us to recognise that some uncertainty and sensitivities remain.
We re-iterate that our message is a show of support for the Albion’s recent announcement and to promote an opportunity for fans within the ground to show their support for the Safe Standing campaign.
It’s clear that the law in England must change first. One way to make this happen is for a popular show of support for Safe Standing. If you support Safe Standing contact your MP and ask them to support any future proposed changes to legislation. Without the support of MPs this will not happen. They work for you and as such people should let them know their views.
Our aim was to encourage fans to show their support for the Albion’s announcement at a home game. However, the club are uncomfortable with fans doing this at this time. As a result the club prefer that we postpone this weekend’s show of support
We remain happy to discuss this with anyone who would like to talk to us and look forward to a renewed enthusiasm for this issue.
