Why ask people to choose between safety and extra facilities? The two are completely different things.

Because that's precisely what the email says - the cost of safe standing would mean other planned improvements not going ahead.

Thanks, I’m only down a few blocks in the west but it’s hard to see sometimes especially when you’re staring across a load of people watching a match!

I love my elevated view from the WSU, its so easy to see the tactics and patterns of play. Been in the WSL on a few occasions, and whilst its good to be up close to the action, I just couldn't get on with the view. Found it tough to properly decipher the "geometry" of the game from such a low viewpoint.

Yes all sit. Except for the celebrations etc . Of course. And as the NS is right there, you get the atmosphere too.

Its hardly unsafe now though is it - I bet the incident book has a handful of "I hurt my arm when I lost my balance" comments in it from the last 5 years. Crikey why dont we go the whole hog and wear crash helmets to matches too just in case someone throws something, that will also be 'safer'

The way the survey is worded and some of the questions they ask, it feels like the club already knows what the outcome is going to be and this exercise is merely to placate the advisory board.

Thanks, will have a look on renewal. We are W1H and the view although very good is obstructed after 30 mins onwards due to people needing food and drink and it’s become annoying! Would like abit more noise around us as well

No, it's the cheaper zone (whatever that is). Only problem you might face is that last season they weren't letting people transfer into the NS for some reason

Saw that at renewal but they were offering north during the half season ticket window recently so might have changed

Safe Standing Survey
The Safe Standing Survey has been prepared following discussions with the Fan Advisory Board, and is designed to gather the views of as many fans as possible.

We remain open-minded to the introduction of safe standing at the Amex (in the North and South stands only) but its introduction would be at considerable additional cost to the club and would likely divert or delay budget and resources away from other stadium improvements that might benefit a larger number of supporters.

When completing this survey, it's therefore important to note:

1. Safe standing would not increase the capacity of the stadium, and tickets would not be sold at a cheaper price.
2. Safe standing would not allow fans to stand where they wished, and would require them to remain in the position allocated to them.
3. Safe standing would involve a rail being installed in front of the current seats to prevent fans from falling or crushing. The current seating wouldn’t be removed.
4. This means fans could still sit if they wished, but wouldn’t be able to see the match if those fans in front chose to stand.
5. The installation of safe standing may require some supporters to move from their current positions if they do not wish to be in a safe standing area.
6. Only the North and South stands are being considered for safe standing at the Amex.

The results of this survey will be shared with the Fan Advisory Board, and with all fans through the club’s website. Ultimately, the decision on whether to introduce safe standing at the Amex rests with the club’s board of directors taking in to account supporters’ views (for and against), the opinions of the local authority, and of course any such scheme’s financial viability.

100% behind Safe Standing. Yes please. IMHO this is a step forward in crowd safety as many fans stand anyway, which is a far greater risk to their safety, designating areas where fans can stand in a safer environment is a common-sense solution. You know it makes sense. x

Not if you are at the edge of that section. Often see people getting arsey about it. Would be 100x better if made official, then all the seated dullards could move to one of the other 25000 seats where people sit down

Pah….the ship has sailed long ago, “Safe standing” (and I hate that term) will change nothing. The beauty of terracing was standing with your mates, moving to a different area if the atmosphere was shit where you were originally, and of course the celebrations when the goals went in. (those young uns that describe goal celebrations in seated ends as “limbs” have sadly missed out)

If it’s a vote, I’ll vote for it as it’s what the younger fans want but it’s not for me nowadays

At least the seated dullards (sorry, silent majority) don't keep banging on about changing the viewing arrangements that make modern football so much more accessible for all.

The 'we want to stand' dullards have already taken over away games from those who want to sit and enjoy a match.

The people who see no benefit aren’t thinking about how it would affect others. Generally, they’re already in an area that sits or want to stand anyway and do. There are very few people in the margins where it would make a difference to them currently.

However, if you look at the bigger picture and have experienced those margins where some expect to sit and others want to stand, the introduction of clarity is a benefit to all.

At the moment, surely all grounds are at risk if there’s a single incident somewhere where people standing in seated areas are found to be a cause. That would immediately affect everyone who wants to stand at a football match.

I still think of football stadiums as standing around the pitch with seats behind. Personally, I’d like it to go back to that, but many new bowl stadiums probably aren’t raked to make that possible. Ours is one where it would work.

I’m about 10 rows further back which is optimal for peak 2nd half Mitoma viewing (assuming they play ball at the coin toss)
