Croydon! Oradour is sombre memorial left the way it was after the Germans killed the entire village.
We discussed this a few years back if I remember correctly

Does not come close to anything to do with war but Medan in Indonesia is very sad.

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
ditto

I thought sitting in the Leppings Lane End at Hillsborough might feel uncomfortable, but perhaps as it is now all seats it was hard to get any impression of what happened there.

I didn't like walking through the tunnel to the seats in the lower tier. I was more comfortable when we were in the upper tier.

Place - Stutthof - the first Nazi concentration camp built outside of Germany

Thing - A collection of eulogies from the victims of the 7/7 bombing - possibly still on display in the Museum of London in Barbican. Very moving, very moving indeed.

Kanchanaburi commonwealth war cemetery, where POW's from the death railray are buried, thailand.

That's a good shout, been there a couple of times however I'd personally say the villages around Cu Chi outside of Ho Chi Minh. Still haven't filled in the bomb craters or rebuilt the schools and houses. Very sad.

I love the way we can't have a thread on here without Croydon/Palace being mentioned!

For me has to be Auschwitz. Walking through the gates eerie and was a shame just how touristy it has become. A place I would never want to re visit, especially the gas chambers which words can not sum up how it feels in there.
