A funny thing, l watched the goal on MOtD whilst at my brother in law's house, he isn't really into football though so the sound was turned down. Afterwards l thought l like that guy, maybe he could do a job for us.

Then this morning whilst watching it again on iplayer it finally sank in . . . he already does play for us!

Was a clever thing to extend with him. Doubtful if he will get into the Brighton squad but at the very least he could be sold for bit of money.

Why wouldn't he get in the Brighton squad? At 21 he's starting in the Championship after a successful season in League 1. Seems very much on the Ben White projectory.

He has clearly got a good chance but the competition amongst Albion U23s for one our our attacking positions squad berths is huge.

Sima, Zeqiri, Connolly, Khadra, Arce, Ferguson, Mitoma, Sarmiento will be competing with him to join Welbeck, Maupay and Trossard as our staple attacking players over the next 18 months or so. Not impossible for Ryan by any means but the club now want ‘top 10’ level EPL players rather than ‘EPL’ level players.

He could make the squad next season, but I couldn't see him getting much time on the pitch, it would be like Taylor Richards this season, just because we have a glut of good midfielders. Then there are the other lads out on loan and in the U23's Caicedo, Sarmiento, Khadra, Mitoma, Kozlowski and others, it will be tough to be the one that comes through.

Ben White was a star player in a team that owned that division, and there was a huge clamour for him to be bought - offers apparantly up to £30M were made and rejected - and remember, White was identified as a future England player almost two years before he joined Leeds..
Ryan is doing OK, at a smaller club that is nowhere near the top of their league. He seems to be well liked by the fans, but regarded as inconsistant. Plus there's likely to be quite a queue of young wide-attacking players at The Amex next summer.

Mitsouma, Sarmiento, Khadra all potentially ahead of him.

He's only just forced his way into the Hull starting 11, he's started their last 8 games in all competitions. Before that he was used off the bench a lot more. 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 7 games is good going though. He's potentially got a lot of players competing with him for a place in our squad though.

I would say at 21 it's very hard to tell. Even Kane was pretty shit at that age, and some players just develop later in their career than others. Longman may be one of these, and being written off so easily by Swanny surprised me.

At 21 Ben White hadn’t played above League 2…

Comparing him to White at Leeds is totally asinine.
