That Fiji side are good enough to upset the Welsh (again). I think that was a very decent result in the end for England. Not pretty, but playing a side with physical superiority is always going to be hard.

There were some massive units amongst them..... Good side can see them causing an upset.

I'm sure the Welsh will win easily enough. Play percentages in the first half, kick for territory, kick the penalties, do the basics, then play a more expansive game in the second half once the game is out of reach for Fiji.

I know this is an above average Fiji side but England made them look better than they were IMO, with their utterly crap ball handling,

The dull part of the south coast
You didn't miss much. It was shit even if you do tolerate it.

It wasn't shit, for that you would have had to watch some of England's performances prior to Lancaster taking over. England made far too many errors granted, but had enough in the tank to score the all important fourth try. Fiji were no mugs and in my view were a very good test for England for the tournament's opening game. Hopefully, for England, things will settle down and the unforced errors will be addressed and sorted. Onwards and upwards.

England were quite poor in their opening 2 games in 2003 and really crap in their opening games in 2007. They got stronger throughout the tournament then, and I'm sure they will again this time.

That's about right. It was never going to be easy. Fiji are ranked alongside Scotland and Argentina these days.

That said, I am a bit reticent to tip English success in this tournament. The squad hasn't developed as I thought it might over the last year.

This is a very young, inexperienced team, particularly compared with the stronger teams in the tournament. This may have been Fijis cup final, the Taffs and Australia are likely to roll them over.
