You should share this evidence you have seen which implicates Putin in MH17 being downed.

Unless you haven't seen any evidence, in which case you should probably not say such inflammatory and baseless things.

To be honest, I don't think anyone needs to be worried about any lawsuits.

Turks are first out the trap with their version of events/evidence expect the Russians to release pics showing it was flying just south of Moscow at the time.

That's a very narrow bit of airspace (<5km). If the Turks warned the Russian jet 10 times as mentioned, then it was flying very slowly, more likely fell out the sky than shot down.

Looks to me like the Turks are getting a bit too trigger happy.

You joker. Do you know what a tin foil hatters favorite phrase is? "blatantly obvious".

You're not a tin foil hatter but you are basically the same. You will believe what you want, the evidence be damned. After all, it's "blatantly obvious".

Actually i'm using logic and history here.

Logic and an understanding of Soviet history will lead one to the conclusion that a plane brought down by Ukranian seperatists (with a Russian built missile) wanting to rejoin the Federation of Russia will undoubtedly have some clandestine link back to to the Russians. It's what they have been doing for 70 years.

Yet in your world all of a sudden they don't play covert games like that anymore.

Logic is not your friend.

I think the mess to begin with can be traced back to Blair !!

Long before that. There were problems when the Shah had to leave Persia and it changed it's name to Iran. Arabs were not happy when Israel was formed in 1948, then there was the break up of the Ottoman Empire at the end of WW1. The Middle East has been unstable for a long time. It doesn't take much to tip the balance at any one time.

No...it's a mess whereby Sunni kills Shia and visa versa..... simple. This has been happening for ever, but on a more industrial scale since the Iran-Iraq war in the early 80's...... we get dragged in to help or hinder, depending on your point of view.

Russia warns citizens off travel to Turkey

In an action that is unlikely to surprise people, Sergei Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, cancelled a visit to Turkey and warned against Russian tourists visiting Turkey.

"The decision has been taken to cancel the meeting that was planned for tomorrow in Istanbul between the foreign ministers of Russia and Turkey," Mr Lavrov said in televised comments.

He told Russian tourists to avoid Turkey claiming the threat of terrorism there was not less than in Egypt where 224 people were killed by an Isil bomb on board a plane flying over Sharm el-Sheikh.

Russia banned all flights to Egypt and evacuated roughly 80,000 tourists there after a terrorist bomb blew up a Russian airliner flying from Sharm el-Sheikh last month, writes Roland Oliphant.

Mr Lavrov's comments raise the possibility that Russian authorities are considering similar measures against Turkey in retaliation for the shooting down of a Russian fighter bomber.

To be honest, by far the most important thing here is the influence that the onset of World War Three might have on whether I decide to get one of those half season tickets. Not sure I'll bother now, what with the impending apocalypse, collapse of western civilisation and that. And the pies are crap now.

Sensible idea. I'd definitely be laying in to the booze as well, Not my Malbec though. *guards Malbec*

Logic & understanding is no substitute for evidence.

Yes the missle was Russian made. Show me any missile in that region which is not Russian made.

"Will undoubtedly have some clandestine link back to to the Russians." - is of the same quality as "Will undoubtedly have some clandestine link back to the CIA."

Undoubtedly = "I have no evidence".

Well that should make Turkey a nicer place to visit.

Or they can speak very quickly

Some expert earlier today was saying the Russians are bombing rebels who have ethnic/cultural links to Turkey in an area that used to be part of the Ottoman empire (most places were!) It must be frustrating watching Russia bombing their nominal friends and therefore not that surprising they took advantage of pilot error assuming that's what happened.

The daily scare stories about eating too much sugar, dying if within 100 meters of a cigarette and dying if drinking more than 2 pints, 3 times a week seem a little irrelevant now don't you think ? We may as well all go out on the back of the Mother of all benders now. Whose round is it ? See you on the other side, the game is up ! Regards GG/US

Putin has been clear from Day 1 - he's against regime change in the Middle East. He was right about Iraq. He was right about Libya. He's been proved right in Syria. It's funny how Putin is being painted as this war-mongering mental case, when he's been anti-war for years & the West have gone ahead anyway. You're right - his aim is to keep Assad in power, and I'm sure oil plays a part. However, he also says that having a strong state is needed to combat ISIS in Syria. And he's right. Funny how the West are now suggesting that removing Assad isn't the main end-game now.

Say what you like about Putin, but he's been mainly right in the Middle-East. The West should be supporting his position after we've made such a mess in the last decade. FFS, we even decided it would be a good idea to arm "moderate rebels" in Syria, when it was blatantly obvious extremists would take those weapons given half a chance.

Nailed it right there Tim. I could not agree more
