'Putin administration 'sends urgent request' to Russian media'

I believe this is an important milestone. A student of history, Putin has always been most afraid of his own people.

'A report published today suggests the Kremlin is becoming increasingly sensitive around reports of a second wave of mobilisation.
According to the Latvia-based news and investigation website Meduza, Vladimir Putin's administration has issued an "urgent request" to Russian pro-government media, asking that they refrain from coverage surrounding the anticipated development.
The report says the outlets concerned have been instructed to avoid even covering rumours about another mobilisation - given the intense scepticism that official announcements from Russian authorities always now induce.
The website quotes a journalist from one pro-Russian publication as saying: "But as we [in Russia] believe, if the authorities deny something, then it will definitely happen."

Didn't Kadyrov do a deal with Putin to keep his fellow Chechens under control? With him gone, the separatists may smell a power vacuum and may take up rather more of Putin's internal security budget than he had planned for. Let's hope so.

Just back from a cruise up to Finland and we had a moment of excitement when a Russian fighter jet flew extremely low over our ship followed a few seconds later by two what I assume were NATO fighter jets

The Russian aircraft was a Suzhou su-57 not seen one before it was huge compared to the two little jets in pursuit which I am fairly sure were F-16s

It's a worrying development, Hungary weren't going to help much anyway, Slovakia seems to be retreating to populism. It's Poland who is the big player here. There seems to be an urban population massively supportive to Ukraine, but a government, held up by a powerful farming lobby which is acting with hostility.

I should imagine such conflict is something Putin will be feeling as a win. I'm hopeful the US will cave in and provide ATACMS to help speed up the counter offensive. They are clearly needed now before support starts to fade further.
