Struggling to make sense of this. Are these people fleeing Georgia Russians who are genuinely scared of living in a western style democracy

I can't imagine that

,or are they Russian 'plants' put into Georgia by Putin in the same way as Russians were put into Donbass as basically fifth columnists, and they're getting out because they've been rumbled/it isn't working?

Maybe? Or maybe people scared of being attacked for being Russian?

Or - more worryingly - is it because they've been tipped off that Georgia is about to be shelled to ruination?

Does Russia really need to start another war? I imagine they're busy enough as it is, and it's not a good look to go attacking another neighbour.

You say that, but supplies we’re running perilously low! Admiral Sir John Woodward admitted that if the conflict lasted another week the outcome may well of been different, saying that UK forces were on their “last legs” due to ammo and ration shortages, as well as heavy losses.

Exactly - the battle for Mount Tumbledown, for instance, apparantly was ended with hand to hand fighting with bayonets fixed. To coin a phrase, young Argentine conscripts, who probably never expected to have to face well trained and well lead troops in serious close quarters fighting, 'didn't like it up 'em' (and who can blame them!)

They had bayonets for a couple of reasons: 1) to make sure anyone they were passing was dead, 2) to demoralise the enemy. I do not believe they had run out of ammunition and were mounting attacks without loaded rifles.

Worried for Georgia - quite a small nation (3-4 million population) so I think it might struggle to stand up to Russia, but hopefully Russia will have its work cut out elsewhere.

I'm not prissy about the language I use, but I never use the 'C' word - but in her case I think I could manage it! Come the inevitable war-crimes trials when this is all over, after Putin (if the ba..ard isn't dead already) I would vote for her next up on a re-creation of the Nuremburg trials! Yes, it's a strange one. They can't make up their minds whether they hate the decadent West, or we're so poor that we're good to be laughed at.
Maybe highlighting that we've spent so much on weapons for Ukraine that we only have roadkill to eat?
Anyway, her regular viewers won't be analysing her words or intentions too much, methinks.

I think you're on the right lines there. It could mean that there are food shortages already, or that they are coming, so they want to head off any unrest by claiming things are dire in the west. At a guess, I would say they are coming. Whatever happens in the growing season, problems with planes, trains, trucks and fuel across the vast distances of Siberia, mean that suppliers will face challenges getting produce to where the customers are. Shortages are inevitable.

Russian state TV is useful for close analysis of the underlying messages they give out to their audience. A while ago, I was struck by something Margarita Simonyan, head of RT, said. 'I don't know of anyone who isn't contributing for our boys'. Translated, that was the Kremlin trying to get the TV audience to contribute money or supplies towards the war effort, suggesting funds and supplies were running out.

If you look beyond the obvious lies and nonsense, Russian state TV can be a very valuable source of information.

Apparently Russia recently attempted regime change in Moldova. The plot, which was thwarted, involved bringing in football supporters of a Serbian team to play Sheriff Tiraspol ( in Transnistria)) with the aim of staying beyond 90 minutes and causing havoc. If successful, it would have posed a threat ( and still does) to Ukraine on its southern border ie a second front
