one practical reason is what happens at the gas fields. Russia has little storage, without the delivery there's nowhere for gas production to go. eventually has to shut down the fields, which means a lot of people out of work (idle even if subbed) and the field can be difficult to restart.
A load of fit, healthy Russian men just twiddling their thumbs...?

What on Earth could Putin find for them to do instead...?

Used to work in Oil & Gas on North Sea, we always had somewhere to send it, as you say no storage means it stays underground with the 'taps turned off'. Turning the taps back on is easier said than done.

Yet another triumph for Vlad...

The pro Russian administration of Kherson are facilitating the evacuation of their supporters in the oblast. Vladimir Saldo, the Russian-installed leader of the occupied Kherson region, has called on Moscow to help evacuate civilians.

"We suggested to all people of the Kherson region to, if they wish, leave to other regions to protect themselves from missile hits," he wrote on the Telegram messaging app.

Russian forces on the run are trying to establish a new defensive line from Милове [approx at (2)] southwards]. Forever hampered by long range HIMARS wiping out Russian logistical hubs behind the lines.

#3 makes the most sense if you factor in the attempts to block the Kerch bridge, it becomes one hell of an encirclement.

He wants the Pentagon to pay for it, so essentially it is extortion.
Do you think he has considered the 'optics' on this?

He has both the power and the opportunity to do something far greater that most of us, and that is to save lives.

But he only wants to do that if the Pentagon pays for it. I'll add that to the list of reasons why he is a multi-billionaire and I'm not.

He wants to 'hand over' Taiwan to the Chinese in exchange for tax breaks! God preserve us from billionaires.

Don't forget this is the guy who wanted to help rescue the football team from the cave, and when he was told it was all in hand and his help wasn't needed, he accused one of the rescuers of being a paedo. He is another Trump with his tantrums if he doesn't get the glory.

Brighton factually.....
Elon Musk is indeed another Trump in the making, another egotistical billionaire playing god with peoples lives.
God help us in the future, more and more of these kind of rich folk will play with humanity at the cost of the planet, and human kind.

They will be the downfall of mankind.

Yes, I do remember that cave rescue. I was equally as enthralled with the success of it, as I was bewildered at his offer of help, and then his reaction to the 'no thanks'. Very strange.

That said, he does get some things right. I remember an interview he gave to some forum in the Middle East. His answers were considered and measured. Give him time, and he gets it right. I suspect his worst decisions are the kneejerk ones, made on receiving a real or perceived slight.

Anyway, we are straying off topic. Back to Ukraine winning the needless war that Russia started.

no he doesnt. he's incredible focused and singleminded, alas blinded to alternatives. when he gets it right, that laeds to great things, when he gets it wrong he looks like a right muppet. he cant tell when thats happening. see also the Thai cave rescue. contrast having built a satellite network in first place.
