Seems like this one is happening. Work with members of his family and had brief chat this morning and they confirmed talks are advanced and expected him to sign possibly today. Was surprised since last I heard from them he was off to Celtic. During the brief chat (bloody work got in way) they said they thought Dunk would go but whether that was opinion or inside knowledge I don't know at this point.

Any idea what the fee will be?

I am possibly aware of that reason as well which was another thing that made me think it was rubbish when I read it this morning. Family seem sure but I will wait until I see him holding the shirt until I am.

If you are then you understand why I am totally shocked

YES.............................I can only judge what I see and anyhow. Good defenders stick out in bad defensive teams. Russell Martin does not.

All I am doing is giving my opinion on him based on what I have seen. Others on here seem to like him. Their opinions are just as valid as mine are. All I am saying is. because I have watched him for Scotland and Norwich a lot, I have probably seen more of him

But he is unlikely to be first choice. Goldson and Dunk likely to be first choice centre half pairing (or if Dunk goes, I imagine we will replace him) and Rosenior or Bruno will be first choice right back. As an option at the back, I find it hard to see how it will be a poor signing. For all you say about seeing him at Norwich and Scotland, he's been a regular in the side for both of them for a long time.

Chris very rarely played him at Centre Half. He always wanted to play that position but Chris seldom did - Yes He has been a regular for both - Russell knows the right people to keep ''sweet' within the football entities.............

It's not a case of look at me I'm ITK - I cant put such things on an ''open forum'' All I am saying is that I am surprised

Tbf this is very 'look at me' stuff. I appreciate you seem to have a good inside knowledge on things but hinting at things without revealing anything is a bit nobby.

What an odd thing to say. You're saying he's played so many games for Norwich and Scotland but not based at all on his ability. Seems very strange to post that without some sort of context. You obviously don't rate him, fair enough, but this comment seems a step too far.

I met him and his family at the theatre about three weeks ago, and had a natter with him. Nice chap - massive Brighton fan. He thought Dale Stephens should have Player of the Season.

He said he was very happy at Norwich, but would like to play for Brighton 'one day'. The way he said it, I took 'one day' to mean 'not any time soon'.

I suppose three weeks is a long time in football (rough time in between Chris O'Grady getting two shots on target), and if this story has any merit, the club would have done well to prise him away from Norwich.

Well if CH knows about whatever it is and this still goes through then we can guess it's not too much of a problem ?

Anyway, I can't ever recall watching RM play, although I must have I suppose. Just hope he'll be good enough.

Scored an impressive (especially for a defender) long range goal against us at Norwich in the 3-3 two seasons ago. Has a decent strike on him from memory.

That story had me up until you mentioned you bumped into him at a theatre.....Footballers don't go to theatres!!
