No I was referring to the young promoting centre back who had only played a few minutes yet when he got his chance didn't look out of his league.

This could be the same for Hall or even Dallison

Reading your post a second time, I could see what you were getting at.

Dunk took his chance and to an extent the same with Goldson, when put into the team they have quickly developed into excellent centre backs. Which is probably the whole purpose of having a fourth choice centre back who is a youngster, they step in for a few games and such exposure helps to develop them.

Dunk, Goldson, Hunemeir & Hall wouldn't be an awful set of centre backs to start the season with even if Uwe is out for the first 6 weeks of the season

Too Nice..........What's that supposed to mean ? What he means is he didn't get to play centre half just because he wanted to...........He's a snake

Russell Martin would not be out of place at a dinner party with the following guests at the table

Marcus Brutus
Benito Mussellini
Judus Iscariot
Dona Marina
Benedict Arnold
Marshal Petain
Tokyo Rose
Lord Haw Haw

Lol, I am liking the way your stance has changed during the course of the thread. It started off that they (CH and RM) didn't see eye to eye and you didn't rate him as a CB. I can see now why you dismissed the rumour out of hand from the off.

Dallison instead of Hall for me, but agree.

I'm just not sure we should be trying to sign another centre back, it seems as though the lack of short term loans has clubs panicking and that could limit the development of our promising youngsters. Where as when Garcia was here he pushed youth team players through and many of them are still involved in our squad

Yes, I tend to agree. Goldson is an excellent communicator, Dunk was better yesterday but needs to improve, now he is the most senior CB. Hunenmeier is a leader as well. Whether its Tom Dallison, Ben White or Hall, any of them should be able to step up; for White, its only the physicality that may stop him at this moment in time.

I've said many times, I rate Dallison and hope he gets an opportunity. The most impressive of the U21s for me in the last 2 years and that includes Rea.

Sky sources are wrong. Personal terms agreed, but Norwich being dicks over the fee, which could scupper the deal.

For those suggesting that an international footballer with over 100 games in the Premier League would come here as cover are mad.

I was told that he would become the highest paid player in Brighton's history if he signs.

If true then the club must expect Dunk to leave as I can't imagine they would pay such high wages for a back up CB/RB.

I was told on Thursday that Lewis brother has been telling people that Lewis is off to Newcastle.

Selling any of our players to a team we expect to be challenging for promotion is plain crazy. They have a leaky defence so let's not help them resolve that issue

Well now I've no idea.

On one side

- CH telling a fan it's not happening.
- Naylor saying it's not happening.
- Indications on NSC that CH doesn't rate RM as a CB, which is where the squad vacancy is.
- Sky Sports saying no interest.

On the other side

- NSC tweeting a bid has been made
- NSC poster knows RM relatives who think discussions have taken place.

No idea what to believe now - except if he comes here I suspect Dunk is off, as RM is not coming to be 3rd/4th pick.

Why would Norwich want to sell their captain to another Championship rival? Find it very hard to believe.

Alex Neil said yesterday.
http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic..._to_three_months_after_knee_surgery_1_4620293
"“As far as the Brighton rumours my knowledge is as good as yours. As far as I am aware they only started in the last day or two and I don’t know where from. We certainly haven’t started them.
“I haven’t made Russell available to anyone. He is recovering from a back spasm. He is coming to Austria and we hope he will be ready for the first game on Wednesday."
