Russell Howard - not as funny as a number of people I know personally.

And Mock The Week - dreadful show. A load of blokes remembering their scripts and passing it off as improv, brilliant, well done. Ridiculously smug considering what they're doing is very basic comedy.

Tell you who is funny, Steven K. Amos.
Brilliant at Newbury Corn Exchange a few months back. Absolutely pissed myself.

He is absolutely THE best stand-up in the country. His Theatre Royal show this year was the funniest night's comedy I'd ever been to, belly-achingly funny.

We have threads like this nearly every week. Someone picks a mainstream comedian liked by thousands and says they are shit and everyone else posts and says that they are shit.

Now maybe they are shit, but when you can sell out arenas obviously some people find him funny.

I find Stephen K Amos one of THE most irritating comedians, always banging on about racist stuff and popping up on these 'Top 50 most..." shows on Channel 4 ridiculing ordinary people from 20-30 years ago for being racist whilst completely disregarding context, history, social and cultural issues etc.

Even leaving aside the racial material he's pretty bland, basically a 21st Century Lenny Henry.

Russell Howard's series is disappointing. It was on series link on my Sky Plus but I haven't bothered with it...

He says "imagine this..." all the time and "what if this happened:..." before entering into some VIth form college routine ...

presumably thats his target audience, judging by those in the studio for his Good News programme on BBC3. watched it last night, was quite a few chuckles, and he manged to employ the word "clunge" on BBC, which cant be bad. maybe im just immature or easy to please with comedy, he seems quite funny to me

Aye. A classic NSC, and classic smart arse stance.

I went to that show too, absolute class, I will definitely be getting tickets for next year's show.

The posts on this thread just confirm that comedy is a matter of personal taste. I can't believe somebody said 'Mock the Week' is dreadful!
Frankie Boyle's imput must be twenty times that of Russell Howard. Even if they are doing it from a script it works. It's just a shame that comedians these days are all doing such similar routines.
