What time do you all get your mail?

Fecking joke around here, it can vary from 8.30 to 14.00
What a way to run a business but I gather they are now in profit due to the enormous amounts of junk mail that clogs the system up and probably causes the delivery delays and then 99.99% of it probably gets binned when it arrives anyway.

You'd think with the number of emails sent that there would be less mail and the whole thing would get streamlined. Why don't they farm out the junk mail to a once a week delivery, preferably on the day the bin men come so it can just go straight into the dustbin?

Well pissed off with never knowing what time it's gonna arrive

Oh, any time from 10am til 3pm here in Redhill. It doesn't leave me long to deal with all my fan mail each day.

Watchin the boats go by
Bout 9am usually.

However our shop is directly attached to the loacl sorting office so that does make it a bit easier for them I guess!

Think you're probably a bit harsh to have a go for them delivering Junk Mail. The cost to deliver letters far outweighs the cost of stamps so they obviously have to subsidise it somewhere

Since the strikes Royal Maill put in a load of spiteful measures on their staff. They basically force them to follow every union rule to the letter, as in "you strike under union rules you can bloody well work by the shit union rules too". this includes not being able to work through your breaks and leave early, hence the posties now have to use their breaktime for breaks, delaying th epost.

I'm sure there are other crap rules as well, to do with sorting your own mail etc.

erm, is that not the staff following every rule to the letter, aka a "Work to Rule"? Rahter than Royal Mail forcing it...

I don't think the staff like it at all. the three postmen/women/lesbians that deliver to our buildings all hate the new rules. Pretty sure they are being made to work like that.

You can actually blame the Government and Postcomm for this. Unfortunately Royal Mail is no longer deemed a service by the Government, we are now a business and with the grossly unfair regulation which sides with the competitors Royal Mail has had to make cutbacks. This means that delivery times will be later and more varied than they were ten years ago.

Why's that.? I get my mail late because they are laden down with a bag load of rubbish mail that just gets binned anyway. I'd happily pay double the postage cost if I could get my mail by 0900 which the post office managed to do for about 100 years before the internet took most of their business. So instead of streamlining the business and giving a better service it has become a joke, I'm suprised they haven't gone bust seeing how the service has deteriorated so much. Great to have what is effectively a monoply eh, don't have to even try to give a decent service.

f***ing union scum bags shouldn't have gone on strike in the first place then
Fair play to the royal mail for saying if you strike by union rules then you have to work by them too.

Oh and normal delivery between 12 and 2 at my Burgess Hill abode. One of those things we're used to now and don't expect it any earlier.

The monopoly we had for all those years is now under threat by private competitors cherry picking the most lucrative business mail, this was the mail that helped subsidise the social mail and also helped Royal Mail provide two deliveries and deliveries before nine o'clock.

Glad to hear it. I'm sure you'll probably find that all the companies that have to send you important stuff in the post would not be so happy about doubling their postage costs! :dunce:

I'd fecking pay it for them if they'd get it here by 9.00, I pay way over the odds to watch my local football team so it wouldn't be anything new to have to overpay :jester:

Im a postman and we used to start posting mail about 8.30am but now we have to sort in the office till 9.30am then have a compulsarory mealbreak for 40 minutes till 10.10am
Then we have our mail put on the van and we start delivering about 10.20-30am.
With a 3.5 to 4 hour round the people at the start of the delivery will get their mail at 10.30am and the end of the delivery will be after 2pm .
This is what we was striking about but the uninformed were left in the dark and believed the spin from Royal Mail saying we were only striking for money .
We are as p1ssed off as the customers because we have kids to pick up from school etc
