Northern Hemisphere.
It's 2020 and we're in the age of the internet. It's unbelievable we as a human race are still going along with stuff like this seeing how far we've come.

What next?

The super duper neighbours? The divine bunch of mates? The sacred pets? The super natural bus drivers?

I'm pleased for you that the fog is clearing and the penny has finally dropped.
Now go and get some help.

I am glad you have that anger controlled, a whole sentence without calling me a name.

A new year and beginning for you now, if you stay calm I might even send you an invite to our Uk Independency celebrations at the end of the month.

It's fancy dress, should be fun. :rave::rave::rave:

The report is quite infamous I'm afraid and comes to some hugely subjective conclusions.

https://fullfact.org/economy/royal-family-what-are-costs-and-benefits/

But not so infamous and unreliable - the Independent quoted the report in their article of 11 May 2018 "Does the Royal Family really make financial sense for the UK economy?":

And a consultancy called Brand Finance estimated in 2017 that the monarchy’s annual contribution to the UK economy to be around £1.8bn a year, drawing in an additional £550m of tourism revenues a year, and an increase in trade, from the Royal Family acting as ambassadors, supposedly worth £150m a year.

This is another tiresome conclusion (along with that crap report Clapham is correctly debunking). How on earth can it be concluded that an accident of birth is better than the will of the people? You would think people would open their eyes to the fact that one senior royal is a nonce who has undertaken several illegal business dealings and frequently used the RAF as his own personal taxi service. He should be in prison. Then you've got the racist bell end who mows people down in his Kensington tractor owing to his age, only to get straight back behind the wheel a few days later just because he wants to. And now we've got another sponger having his cake and eating it. Funny how he hasn't abdicated eh? I am convinced the people let this injustice continue simply because actual facts are not disclosed and because of the huge publicity machine that works on their behalf. Sadly though, all the while the people are happy with the royals, nothing will ever change.

Oh and the people didn't have a problem electing any of those people you mention to run the country did they? At least they're accountable.

Surely we also have to mention here the next in line's defence of the pervert priest Ball and his "close friendship" with Saville. The future's looking good with him at the helm eh?

It will happen "cliche" or not.
Only if it was voted on. That's the point.

We are in a situation where Brexit has been rammed through, simply because leave won in the first place - nobody thought to take stock and consider whether or not it was right. And that is the right of the people in a democracy, regardless of what is sensible or otherwise.

How come that doesn't apply with the monarchy. People seem happy to continue with the status quo despite the social injustice it represents on so many levels. Where is the mandate? What is wrong with "President Blair" if that is who the people choose? Who would choose Charles (or Andrew) to be head of state? They're awful, but that is what we will have.

They sooner they leave the family and lose their ttiles the better. The Royal correspondant on TV suggested lowsing their titles was a possibility as The Queen continually reffered to them as Harry and Megan not Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Because when you run a story like that - there is literally nothing else to quote. It's a bonkers report.

No-one knows how they came to their conclusions. I repeat, £50 million to the media industry via their "inspiration". It's nonsense. All they did was estimate the overall sales of programmes like "The Crown".

How did they estimate the £150 million a year acting as ambassadors ? Nobody knows.

The conversation is REALLY very strange:

Q: Why should be have an un-elected Head of State ?
A: It's good for the economy
Q: Have you any real evidence of that ?
A: Not, really.

You prefer ?

Q.So why should we have an elected head of state ?
A. It would be a good idea.
Q. Have you any evidence to back that up ?
A. No, not really.

The NSC vote is a bit like the Brexit one. NSC have decided to keep the Royal Family, suck it up if you are an outer, they are staying

You might as well add - why should be have elections ? Bonkers....

I've been quite consistent on here in my belief that an un-elected Head of State is smaller problem against the much wider democratic problems in this country.

The electoral system, the Privy council, un-elected Lords sitting in the cabinet etc..

( This being the country that voted for "taking back control - how funny )

What I'm reacting is those who love/are ignorant of the status quo and can't rustle up anything beyond:

1) They Royal Family are good for tourism (prove it then)
2) You'd end up with President Blair (no-one would elect him)

.. and that's it . Pretty weak

Gotta say I don`t see our "Queen" or as you prefer our "unelected head of state" as a problem at all. In fact I see her her as an outstanding person, great for our country and someone who I believe every countries head of state including Putin and Trump has great respect for. .

Good for them.

I've not said much on matter. I care so little. But here is all that needs to be said for their departure. I wish them well.

You wouldn't need any evidence - it would be the will of the people.

Whoever came up with that comparison was being a bit disingenuous to say the least as it suggests that it was the off the shoulder dress which was the cause of Meghan Markle’s vulgar breaking of Royal protocol.

It was actually the dark colour of her nail varnish.

Trust nothing.

The will of the majority is to keep monarchy....although as in most things it`s the minority that make the most noise !

Is that based on the NSC poll?

I'm not sure I've been formally asked my opinion on the monarchy...

True. Although when you look further, a day later they report on her being 'inappropriate' and copying Kate.

So the point remains really. The press have just hounded her. For whatever reason, I don't know. Much of the tabloid press in this country are just scum. But we knew that.
