I've found the answer to whether Sheffield was sold out. It appears not.

"300 ticket holders had been refunded for the event which was due to take place in the 2,373-capacity Oval Hall, the council said."

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-58463658

Still, I suspect all 24,000 people who signed the petition will be moving heaven and earth to get a ticket for the other, as yet uncancelled, dates, so Royston Vasey should be laughing all the way to the shop.

He's your wife, now. Good luck.

There are concerted efforts from groups of full-time complainers/cancellers/protestors/SJWs who go from target to target on Twitter attempting to "cancel" people they don't like. They trawl through their entire history hoping to find something to "cancel" them with.

I have seen this in action.

Stay away from 5G, and make sure you put some bacofoil over your head when you drive near a pylon.

To be honest, if I’d only shifted 300 tickets for a 2,373 seater venue, I’d be quite relieved if it got cancelled.

The show wasn't going to be until next year, in fairness. I work in theatre and have experienced a lot of shows which perform averagely until fairly soon before the show.

Most hit West End shows, with the massive domestic and international tourist markets, huge marketing budgets and 9 million people on their doorstep do about the same - or less - in pre-bookings a year in advance. Pick any show except Hamilton, choose a random night in 6 months time and check the availability. It will be completely empty.

He would've made the promo rounds, posters up in town and so on and done a decent house. Doubt he would've got close to 2,373 though!

I have a suspicion that that's an error and it was meant to be in the Memorial Hall (capacity 500), since the Oval Hall is used for people like Ross Noble and John Bishop (both listed to perform the same month as the cancelled event), who appear on television and might reasonably be described as popular.

That aside, I might pop up on Friday to see if the planned protest manages to draw more people than the nutters singing about Jesus down the road on the Moor.

I recently booked tickets for Ed Gamble and Amish Kumar at the Dome, plus tickets for My Dad Wrote A Porno at the Palladium. Very limited availability for these shows and they aren’t until April / May 2022.

There’s still TWO tickets left for ‘An evening with a DULLARD’ at the Amex on September 16th.

This is known as staggered release ticketing, where blocks of seats are released closer and closer to the time.

LW Theatres/RUG and many others operate a system called Dynamic Pricing, which works similar to airlines. The lower the availability, the higher the price.

By only keeping a handful of tickets on sale at any one time, they create a FOMO situation and encourage early bookings. Once most of those are sold, more tickets are made available in each price band and so on.

Dynamic pricing is an excellent thing for the consumer generally because careful monitoring of tickets and last-minute buys can get you some outstanding value.

Typical thread full of the usual trendy NSC Metropolitan Elite showing off. I bet they all love clever left wing comics like Stephen Mulhern and Michael Macintyre. It's about time the real alternative comics like Roy, Jim Davidson and Jimmy Tarbuck were given another crack at ITV prime time.

trendy NSC Metropolitan Elite Is a class description

I haven’t read the thread but I do wonder how these people would cope going to the pub for a few pints - they can’t have ever sat at a bar and got involved in the conversations that go on
