Quote from Rougier on thisisbrighton....

The Trinidad and Tobago international, 32 last month, revealed: "There were talks about two weeks ago between my agent and Steve Coppell.

"They made me an offer but there was no way I could accept it.

"If I was a single man living alone I probably would be playing for them but I'm not, I have a family.

"The season is still young. I have not signed for anyone yet. I am still having talks with people but I pray Brighton change their minds and I can play there again."

I was taking to Simon last night and the offer was the same as the one made to Mr Beasant, £500 per week. I think Rougier was on something like at least four times that at Reading so no wonder he said no. As I understand it, he has kept in touch with the lads and don't be surprised to see him back again this season!

At work - probably
As I said on the other thread - maybe SC didn't rate him highly enough. I know we've offered AK a short term deal - could you imagine him coming here for £500 pw??? Likewise Ben Roberts???

£500 a week is all he was worth. A lumbering oaf/bufoon of a players, with no discernable talent.

I hope that's a wind-up.

I rather have my grannie play for the Albion over Rougier and she's been dead 20 years.

He is a bumbling, stumbling oaf of a player who we have no need for.

Anybody religious out there? Pray to your God that he stays away from us. Nothing personal, he clearly likes the club and comes across as being a nice guy but a professional footballer? Give me a break!

Good use of the 'oaf' word there Brian.

Depending upon how you view this but it could be seen as either:

Proving that there IS a God

Proving that there is NO God

Ben Roberts is on considerably more that £500 per week. I dont know for sure, but I would guess it would be something like at least £1,500 - £2,000 per week +

Back to Rougier...

Besides the big dick thing which although true, is just a bit of fun, he weighs in at over 14 stone (according to the PFA website).

Would this be construed as a bit of muscle and physical presence or does he need to lose some weight to be considered? ???

I'd play pro football for £500 a month! Regrettably any chance of a career in the game was cut tragically short by a total absence of any talent.

Somewhat like Rougier:lolol: :lolol:

Perhaps the Rouge is looking to stay in Division One then?!? Bit odd... I thought he would have loved to have gone to Brighton. Its hardly like he needs to move his family away from Reading... Steve Brown commutes to Reading from Brighton, doesn't he?

The money thing... well I reckon he was probably on about £4k a week here. Hence him and Cureton were on the out because they didn't play much and were relatively high earners. Strangely, Martin Butler is our top earner about £6-7k pw (might now be Goater) and he doesn't play either!

Personally I think he would be a good asset to us - let's see what happens with the two loan strikers.

I bet if one goes and he has no club he would come here.

Probably a bit of strategic thinking by SC.

Possibly but if you have no club then you might take the best offer available - is he out of contract ?

It is a lot harder in the lower divisions.
