I thought there was a three strikes and you are out rule about administration

Now you mention it...

Surely that means whatever means Rotherham get themselves alive again, they will still be under immense pressure. Because if they don't have the option of admin. they will just fold surely if finances get out of control?

The state of foorball today :nono:

Bloody SKY

.
It's not really Sky's fault; to be honest I blame BigGully. Well not him specifically but people who think like him. On the Adam el Abd thread he made a comment that the club could afford to pay decent wages, funded not necessarily from income generated by the business but from benefactors.

It's extraordinary that people think football clubs can operate like that in the long-term - Gretna being the most extreme example of what happens when benefactor funding stops. Lower league football needs a massive dose of reality and perhaps it does need a couple of clubs to go to the wall for the basic economic lessons to sink in. You can't rely on handouts.

An email to SkySports this afternoon from Steve Matthews, a Rotherham supporter:

"There's a team that looks like going out of business today and all you want to spout about is Benitez and Man U...

For crying out loud don't little old 'Rotherham United' deserve even a snippet on your pages.....you make me sick to the pit of my stomach just spouting on about bloody premier league teams ! Where do you think grass roots football starts ?

Premiership clubs don't just pull players off a shelf out of a cupboard....it's sometimes way down in the lower leagues ala Kevin Keegan..remember where he came from ?

All I'm asking is at least mention my home town club's plight as though someone cares as we await our fate whilst you post '3 Prem players to sign new contracts at Man U'.... is the Prem all that sky sports care about ? !!!!"

Very well said that man.

Press release - Rotherham United FC

The Administrator of Rotherham United has confirmed that a number of formal offers have been received from prospective buyers by todays 5pm deadline.

Administrator Jeremy Bleazard of XI Business Solutions, Said: "I am very encouraged that a number of bids have come in and I will spend the next couple of days considering each one on its merits. I hope to begin formal discussion witha "prefererred" bidder early next week:

Bleazard went on to confirm that bids do not at this stage commit any of the prospective buyers to begin funding the club and that it is vital that supporters get behind the various fundraising efforts not to mention, go along to tomorow's game. He stated: "Though this is good news, our cash flow still does not allow me to pay the full amount of player's or staff's wages. I cannot stress how importnbt our need for funds is and hope that everyone does not simply assume that everything will now be alright."

i dont think it matters who takes over - it will require somebody seriously rich to stop the club going back into administration again in a few years time. trouble is, most people with money just want to go straight to the premiership and reap the rewards. it is very rare you will get a millionaire purchasing, and effectively saving, a lower league team - peteborough are the only real example

just got to keep the faith though - it seems surreal that just 5 seasons ago there was a realistic chance of making the play offs in division one, with the club on a sound financial footing. then, new owners come in with ideas way above rotherhams station and bang - this is the result

May I disagree? I think millionaires are getting priced out of the Prem as well. Becoming the Billionaires Club. Millionaires will have to look lower or get together in a consortium - and I think most millionaires like to do things by themselves (not that I speak from experience!). Just look at the Liverpool mess.

no you cant :)

the point is, how many millionaires are purchasing lower league clubs? they may be being priced out, but the problem is there is still no investment in teams further down the pyramid

How odd................that a Yorkshire clubs possible demise, should take up 3 pages on our messageboard, yet Leeds Uniteds board (Waccoe), has no mention of it at all on the first 4 pages of threads.
You would have thought, that as they had also faced extinction such a short time ago, it would have produced some solidarity and support for their Yorkshire colleagues.
Not so it seems................maybe they,re just selfish fuckers.

Great. Was going to try and post a message of support on the Rotherham Mad site, but was informed I've been banned!???

Your user account has been disabled on all forums for contravening Footymad rules i.e. repeated abuse or bad language, spam messages linking to external websites etc.

What's that all about?! Only posted about three messages, ever :(

Anyway, good luck Rotherham, if you're reading this.

Oh, what a surprise... No doubt they are still banging on about rivalry with Merchandising United and the 'Champions' League

I sent a similar email to the BBC yesterday afternoon...

Hi,

The current headline on the BBC Football page is "Man Utd trio agree new
contract". As the sixth strap headline alongside is "Rotherham United
face extinction". I realise that you are trying to represent the
interests of the majority of football fans, but I find it particularly
disapointing that the potential liquidation of a community's football
club is of so little interest. Especially given that there was a 5:00pm
deadline by which a buyer supposedly had to be found. Does the BBC truly
believe the fact that 3 exortionately paid Premier League players
signing new contracts is more significantly to British football?

And got the following predictable reply...

I am afraid that Man Utd have fans globally and people from across the
world view our website, so it is a bigger story that the Premier
League's top team have secured those players.

Kind regards
Louise

Having just heard that the 'English Premier League' is now a sport according to some **** on bbc News 24 I am not surprised that our licence fee is supporting this kind of overhyped 'british' propaganda worldwide.
