I've never met him, but know people who know him. They wouldn't consider him a centrist. He is an old fashioned borderline aristocratic very posh military trained Tory who whilst having no real understanding of "normal people" genuinely cares for them. He is a very posh, very educated but very nice guy.

Unfortunately his party has been taken over by a bitter upper middle class who:

1) Are envious of those above them.

2) Despise those below yet court their vote.

Add a spattering of "done well" working class who can't understand how anyone else from their background haven't made the money they have. The Tories are so obsessed with the party of the 1980s I fully expect them to start wearing leg warmers or joining the board of a new Breakfast Television franchise.

Funnily enough I've been decorating today, I'm annoying good at it.

Livingstone was two fingers up to New Labour who tried to stop him. He was a great Mayor, hasn't been as good since. As soon as he ran out of steam (and his mates brought him down) Boris was elected because he couldn't have been any different and that was two fingers up to Gordon Brown.

Khan was elected as two fingers up to Tories and the disgraceful racist campaign led by Boris's chum Goldsmith.

Khan is a bit bland and I suspect Rory Stewart has a good chance of getting in. That will be too fingers up to the nasty right wing that have taken over your party.

I can explain the above with glove puppets if you like, I'm quite flexible.

He is worth ten of Boris. Of the candidates standing for party leader, in my view he was the only one with any chance of bringing people together.

Because he clearly thinks he is better than Boris and hated the fact that Boris beat him to no 10, anyone that shows that many teeth when smiling has anger to hide.

Something that has the potential to become a little scary.

The current PM is on the strings of a group of neo-cons. The current Labour Party leader heads an imploding group of broad opinions. Even if Labour were elected they wouldn't be allowed to govern properly as the media would take control of public attitudes as folk gobble up their shite.

I have often asked folk what they have against socialism. Most can't tell me. It's just that Rupert Murdoch said it was bad. I then remind them that we have a society that is still underpinned by socialist ideology, practice, and values. .

I support progressive socialism. Something that understands the age and encourages enterprise. Corbyn could offer that but like the Tories, he is in danger of, and to a small degree has, been surrounded by those who do not understand modern thinking, Then there's Momentum.

So both parties have the same problem.
