A month I hope and long enough to lose Utd the league. England are not going to win the World Cup anyway so I dont know why anyone is that bothered about the implications on that tournament.

If he's out for four weeks it can only be a good thing as he's played virtually every game this season and needs a rest which Ferguson can't offer him otherwise. He's got plenty of time to get his form in time for the World Cup.

If Greece can win the Euros, then any team, including England, can win the World Cup. A lot of it is about luck and on occasion the 'best' team doesn't win.
I've already booked July 12th off work...

Nonsense. A genius + 10 other good/very good players is good enough to win a World Cup and this has been proven several times over the years. I take it you didn't watch the World Cup in 1986?? How many of the other Argentina players from that World Cup are household names? ZERO.

We have less chance than Spain or Brazil, but more chance than anyone else simply because we have Rooney and they don't. He's a genius, end of.

Could be a blessing as mentioned above - Hopefully this will let the Gooners in to win the title and we'll have the anal granny fiend fit and ready for le Coupe du Monde.

Yeah a couple of weeks out for Rooney could be good for England, enough time for him to get fit again and enough time for Man U to get knocked out the Champions League..

Hopefully it won't be bad, a few weeks out could be a blessing in disguise.

To be honest I would be happy with this. Keeps him out of a number of games and gives him time to be match fit before SA. Could work out very well at best

My biggest hate of Albion fans on here is their negative views on England. The tournament hasn't started yet and some of you are writing us off - even tho (granted in this country) we're SECOND favourites to win it! Of course we can win - if we play like we did in qualifying against Croatia BOTH times in every game we'll win it. It all depends on those few games - we have as much chance of winning it as we do going out first round - we need to believe. Some of you sound like spoilt Man U fans -IDIOTS in other words...

What we don't want is for Fergie to rush him back for a key EPL or CL game, and we see him get crocked again, or (more likely) we bollox up this summer, and one of teh tired old excuses we rolled out is ...... "How tired the players were after a long season, and Rooney was carrying his ankle injury."

:annoyed:

good shout.if united beat chelsea on sunday without him, ferguson will surely be less tempted to rush him back as the title will be pretty much in the bag
