I don't know if you have noticed, but there's this big tournament that is happening in South Africa this summer and we kind of need Rooney fully fit.

Should't have frigging started. We're lucky he's not been stretchered off already, that's been more through luck than judgement. If he comes out for the 2nd half, I want Ferguson hung at the Tower tomorrow at 6am, and his head on a PIKE by 9.

he'll be fine.
and i'm as squeamish as the rest of you. the WC will be f***ing BORING if we don't have rooney. because we will have ZERO chance at the later stages. (barring a revelatory bobby z call up - think toto schillachi)

he'll be fine. if it is the sort of ankle turn one can recover from in 7/8 days, it is the sort that, if aggravated, will be better in 2-3 weeks MAX and not affect his form.

and yes, i'm an armchair authority on these things. i've played champ manager you know.

I don't think we will, but we'll give a much better account of ourselves if Rooney is in shape. It is widely accepted that he is one of the greatest players in the game right now and like Maradona in 86 he's capable of carrying the whole team forward.

Could mean the difference between a well fought narrow defeat in the semis and limping out at the first knockout stage
