Hold on Steve, no one forces these young men to

1: Shag whores (Rooney, Crouch)
2: Shag anyone (Ashley Cole)
3: Shag your mate's ex (Terry)
4: Vomit and joke about 9/11 at an airport in front of Americans (Lampard, Terry)
5: Beat up people at nightclubs whilst your mates hold them down (Stevie G)

........and that's before we open the whole chapter headed 'Joey Barton'.

I don't judge them, it happens in all professions, but they are happy to take the money in the form of endorsements for being in the public eye, and therefore they should not bitch when things bite them on the bum.

I agree with everything you've said!

I just wish it wasn't news - and I still find the timing of running the stories vindictive. And there's a reason for it; when there's no major tournament or games on, footballers aren't in 'the news' as much and so therefore, a scandal will sell less papers. So they wait until a big game comes up... and then run it.

On top of that, I despair at the newspapers who on one page can write "why aren't we the best footballing team in the world - what's wrong with our players?" on the back page, while on the front page, they're destroying the confidence of probably our only genuine world class footballer.

It's their perogative, but they're the architects of their own chagrin.

Correct. These players have a responsibility to behave and set an example, yet time and time again they don't have the brains to understand what they are doing wrong.

Sorry but enough is enough. These people are scum end of, and the part of the problem is down to the amount of money that they earn.

They had the story BEFORE the World Cup though, but chose not to run it perhaps for the reason you quoted (or due to an injunction?).

Switzerland away however isn't quite the same as a WC finals match, and the problem for the red tops is that there is no football to comment upon yesterday so they need something to get people to buy their shite.

As for affecting performance, Ashley Cole has been castigated mercilessly for his playaway behaviour from shitforbrains Cheryl, but his form has been better than ever.

I don't think they are scum. Type in 'escort agencies' and your home town and you will find hundreds of entries in Google. There are brickies, bankers, bakers and candlestick makers all of whom have a dip with a prostitute, are all these men (and women) 'scum' too?

The only difference is that

1: Footballers sell newspapers, so their habits get reported whereas plumbers don't, and
2: Footballers can afford hookers from a different sector of the market to the £40 rub a tug shops that other professions might use.

I doubt anyone, including Mr Rooney's wife, is surprised by today's *sensational news. He's never been the brightest.

To be honest if you asked me about Wayne and coleen in 2004 I could've told you this would happen. Most ugly blokes who marry their childhood sweethearts have to be content with their lot because it's probably the best they'll ever do. If you then give that ugly bloke millions of pounds, worldwide fame and therefore the ability to get more birds than the average joe - that's an awful lot of temptation to deal with.

Wayne should've got all this out of his system before he married her. He should've also got a more expensive hooker and not some little scrote from round the estate, he might've got away with it then.

He turned down the temptation though, and instead booked himself a hooker.

Perhaps, in his own mind, he was doing her a favour. "Coleens suffering from morning sickness with the baby, but my plums could do with a rinse, so let's book a filthy ho and I can empty my spuds into her tradesmans'"

So the age of romance is not dead, and he was doing it FOR his wife......

Wazza did however reveal his class

"We ate Scotch eggs and drink made from Oxo cubes in bed - Wayne called it his 'Power Picnic'".

I hope she kept the windows open after that, I believe the second time he turned up she was wearing a gas mask, he thought she was being kinky, but she was just trying to breath properly.

It might be a low life thing to do, but I am still struggling to understand how an extra-marital affair (if it did happen) is really any of our business...oh, I forgot, it sells papers and is another way to shoot a hole in England's chances of ever winning anything.

It becomes our business because we have a rather large proportion of youngsters who want to be the next John Terry or Wayne Rooney who cannot think that this behaviour is acceptable. These idiots need to be reimnded and shamed (they don't understand it any other way) into understanding that the job of role model covers them on AND off the field. Tiger Woods etc included in this.

Money does not absolve you of your morals or respect for your wife and the vows you took.

Unacceptable to who?

Mrs JT has taken him back, Coleen knew about Wayne and his 'previous' with ladies of the night.

Footballers are NOT answerable to you and I, as much as we may like to judge and moralise about them.

I think you'd struggle with the argument that adultery is acceptable. You'll always find a few dissenters but on the whole society deems adultery unacceptable. It wouldn't be acceptable as grounds for divorce if it wasn't.

I wasn't asking for footballers to be answerable to any of us?? I'm saying that they need to be reminded that there are young children who are football fanatics who are watching every move these guys make. It is our responsibility to ensure that our young kids know this behaviour is unacceptable.

And of course Mrs JT would have taken him back had he been working in Tesco's for the miniumum wage? No disrespect intended to anyone who works in the store; just trying to illustrate a point

They have different rules as they are famous and very rich. If they worked as a mortgage broker and did what they do their other halves would throw them out with the dishwater. The women who hook up with these moronic footballers are as bad as the men that cheat on them as they have no pride and no self respect and are in it for the money and the lifestyle. Terry got away with it, Crouch got a slap on the wrist but got away with it, Rooney will get away with it. Fair play to Cheryl she dumped that tosser Ashley Cole but even then she stuck by him for a long time after he cheated on her.
