RIP.

A comedy legend. Porridge truly was one of the funniest sitcoms on TV IMO.

Really sad - a truly great comic.

Porrige and Open All Hours are timeless classic sit coms

haven't felt this sad at the passing of a star since Les Dawson died. The only crumb of comfort i can draw on is at least we will see many tribute programmes displaying the man at his masterly best.

RIP.

Very sad, another part of my childhood has vanished into the ether. Porridge was an excellent, the Two Ronnies ver hit and miss but always liked the sketches where Barker was a pompous civil servant having problems with the English language (He always loved writing those ones and often wrote under the pseudonym of Gerard Wiley). The Phantom Raspberry Blower was the best thing that ever appeared on the show, however, it was written by Spike Milligan not Barker.

Indeed, it's goodbye from him.

RIP
:(

Just to echo everyone else's comments, a legend indeed

May he RIP

I'm going to change my signature to

"And it's goodbye from him"

As a mark of respect

Favourite sketch for me is the one in the Swedish chemist shop:

Customer: "I would like to buy a deodorant please"
Chemist: "Certainly sir, ball or aerosol?"
Customer: "No, no, it is for my armpits"
