Their market value has already increased over and above the amount they've paid for him.

THAT is the reason that they have done this, not because of bloody shirt sales. They're a publically traded company and this has massively increased their value in just a few days.

(also to win the CL).

It's proper pissed off a FIAT workers union:

"It's unacceptable that while FCA and CNHI workers continue to make huge economic sacrifices, the company then spends hundreds of millions of euros on the purchase of a player.

"We're told that times are tough, that we need to resort to social safety nets, waiting for the launch of new models, which never arrive. And while the workers and their families tighten their belts more and more, the company decides to invest a lot of money on a single human resource!"

I should imagine FIAT, who own the Jeep brand (as well as Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Ferrari, Lancia, Maserati, Ram and SRT) will have made a significant contribution.

From the BBC website today:
Workers at a Fiat Chrysler plant in Italy are to strike after its main investor decided to pay €112m (£99.2m) to sign footballer Cristiano Ronaldo for Juventus.

Oh dear.

Exactly, the value of Ronaldo comes with the added exposure and the branding, much more so than the actual goals scored.

Superb athlete with years at the top level ahead of him. Only making way for cry-baby Neymar who is not fit to lace his boots.

Compare and contrast with the younger Wayne Rooney, who's just done the footballing equivalent of straight-to-video. Younger than Ronaldo but with all the style and athleticism of a middle-aged binman.

You REALLY are crazy ... you can't say that in BN1, not unless you WANT an overflowing wheelie bin that never gets emptied 'cos your house is on "binman ignore"
