[Albion] Roma away. No flight? or no match ticket?

So, after fighting thousands of Albion fans to successfully book flights from Gatwick to Rome, I’ve got a match ticket and my friend who is set to travel with me hasn’t. A mixture of guilt and frustration has set in, so just want to gauge the level of demand for identifying venue for ticketless Albion fans to gather during match.

Piazza dei Cinquecento, which is near Termini station, seems best positioned, so away fan friendly nearby bar with big screen is needed.

That, or offer a way out for my friend by transferring flight ticket to someone with a match ticket.

Who has:-
a) a match ticket and no flight
b) flights and no match ticket?

I'm in this position at the moment. Flight to Milan, Train to Rome, Hotel - all sorted. No ticket.

Am hoping that a returned ticket pops up soon so I can complete the set, otherwise need to make the judgement call about writing off the cost, avoiding the hassle/stress (have no contingency in the travel plans - everything has to run on time!) and watching at home, or travelling out to find an away-friendly bar with a screen and enjoying the atmosphere (Only in Rome for 14hrs though so not too much of a chance to enjoy!)

If all 10 are in Rome, the named persons can pick up the tickets, then raffle with their good friends over which of the 10 actually use the ticket to gain entry, and which sit in a bar with the other unlucky ones.

Hopefully they all look alike for when the ID is checked at the stadium.

If you’ve already paid for it all then why wouldn’t you go?

The actual football is quite often the most insignificant part of some trips (granted probably not this one). Go sample the culture, the atmosphere, the food, the drink and make memories for yourself.

So there three lucky raffle winners maybe looking forward to a 10 game ban if the names don't match the tickets as well as the people's whose names are on the tickets.

Good luck. I think I was never I'd checked once I'd got my ticket. As long as you all look alike, take the driving license to match the name.

His mate is free to travel wherever he wants whenever he wants. I booked my flights as soon as the draw was made, I imagine he may have done the same. Like him I missed out on a match ticket however it that means you've had to pay more for your flights then that is a F**king result!

Not going myself, and have since learned its a print at home ticket, with ID check at the stadium being only place where identification takes place, so maybe a bit more risky than group games.

About £900. That includes flight change fee, purchase difference for pricier flight, round-trip LHR-FCO airfare, hotel room, transport and meals. Basically for March 6 and 7, because I'm to be in Edinburgh March 9.

Im in the same position whereas I have a ticket but my brother doesn't and flying to Milan.
Worse case if there is not one going Monday morning first thing ill give my one back. I will then be watching the game in a bar in the centre of Milan, pointless stressing to find a train to Rome,flights paid for now so any type of jolly will be great.

Thanks for your concern but all's fine my end. I managed to get my flights and 3 nights accommodation for £275 all in.

In Amsterdam I watched the game in a pub full of Brighton then met up with my mates afterwards, in Athens I got a ticket in the home end.

In Rome I might watch the game in the pub, I might go in the home end but wherever I end up I won't be locked in the away end for 2 hours at full time then crammed into a decrepit bendy bus for a tour of the shittiest bits of Rome.

This works well for the airlines, but looks like market failure from the fan/traveller/customer's point of view. Is there a way of making this work better for us if there's a next time?

If you do a few more away games in the UK, you can perhaps watch the game in the stadium.

Hopefully by then the air fares are stable.

It's market forces yes ... but it's based on responding to market signals (if that's the right word). Doing it differently would depend on someone saying "I got this", so the airlines don't get thousands of people searching for the same thing.
