Can't find a thread about this and I've only just noticed that once again they're gonna be staying in League 2 having lost to pikey Gillingham in the playoffs

How long have those poor buggers been stuck in the bottom tier of league football now, fecking decades isn't it?

Rochdale AFC was formed in 1907 and were founder members of the Football League Division Three North in 1921. Since then they have had just one promotion and one relegation, with promotion coming in 1969 and relegation in 1974...

The biggest Albion home crowd I've ever been in was 3rd may 1972 v Rochdale.

We needed a point to go up, they needed a point to stay up so it finished a tame 1-1 on a sweltering night with a crowd of.....

34,766!

I wonder if that's the largest gate that 'dale have played to in the league?

The biggest league gate at Spotland was 24,231 in the 1949/50 season when they turned out in numbers to watch Tommy Lawton.
