The word "Legend" is over-used now and seems to be applied to anyone who's played for the same team for a while. RMJ is a decent all-rounder, no more and no less. He's had a good season this year, but never really fulfilled his potential throughout his career as a whole.

Absolute tosh, look at the English born All-rounder stats in County Cricket over the last 10 years and you will be able to count the number of players with better stats than RMJ on one hand.

A wonderful afternoon and evening (I spent the time in corporate as the old man is a Life Member and they did a lunch for them; good food and company). Great performance after the falling apart of the 20-20 games. Joyce's innings was a corker and you never can keep Kirtley down; I knew we had the game won when Solanki shouldered to a straight one from him. Wonderful send off for RMJ too - nice to see his family there. I think he's done very well by himself getting the Hurstpierpoint job; as BoF says, our loss their gain, but he will get good conditions and his children (don't know if he has any yet) will be educated at a considerable discount from the ages of 4 to 18. Also, you watch - RMJ will be a headmaster within 10 to 15 years. He just has that look about him. He will be working hard; he is to teach Geography and Religious Studies as well as Sport, and apparently has to start lesson planning straight away.
