Would have loved him to stay, but regardless of budgets/targets etc if we're realistic him leaving this summer or in the middle of next season because a job offer he likes has come along is pretty high. Almost a certainty i'd say. We were never going to keep him forever. So doing it this way is much better for us. Tony looking at what is best for the club as usual. & who knows what Tony has been told. For all we know RDZ has said 'im off if United/Bayern/Juventus come knocking' and we've been forced into this position.

We will have a LOT of manager wanting to come join us.

I've not had time to read all about RDZ's leaving but if it's by mutual consent will we still receive compensation for him leaving before his contract is up ?

Did a great job for a year, gave us some amazing times, then appeared to phone it in as soon as things got tough. I don't wish him ill but don't particularly wish him well either.

Thanks for the memories RDZ, obviously, but I think this is in everyone's best interests. Now let's go and get someone in that can take us to the next level. This is going to be our most important summer since the end of Hughton's reign, and I totally believe in TB and PB to deliver.

True, but coaches need to adapt tactics when plan A has been found out by tactical analysts working for competing clubs. De Zerbi and Bielsa only have one way of playing. The same can be said of Postecoglou at Spurs.
Yes and I agree with comments regarding our tactics in Rome, we list all chance we had playing like that.

My post wasn’t to do with managerial succession planning. I agree with what you say there. It was referring to what it says about our ambition in terms of player targets this summer. The squad is at a crossroads.

It is.

A load of players in their 30’s. Many key. Even young Solly will be 30 😥.

How many age 22 to 27 year old PL quality stars do we have?

Paraphrasing Jim White, a huge transfer window for us coming up.

This is the way I see it.

I don't remember another example, where a club agrees a parting with manager A, recruits manager B, but continues to employ and pay manager A in the hope of negotiating compensation with manager A's future employer.

In addition to never hearing of it happening, I still don't think it makes sense from our point of view. We're then effectively paying for 2 sets of managers and coaching staff at the same time. In addition, our negotiating position is fatally weakened. The other club know we're not keeping him.

I've still no idea why we have agreed to this.
so we can crack on and get someone else in

Why would you not feel very strongly that the club you love appears to care more about its operating profit than it does about harbouring any ambitions in the game? RDZ was challenging the board on all our behalfs. We won't be seeing his likes again for a while
Because I would like to be able to keep supporting that team until my end of days. Not just take a passing interest in the results online of other clubs as mine went bust years before.

Interesting that we seem to have some fans who are sounding more Team De Zerbi than Team Bloom today

I think that De Zerbi leaving is very bad news and I suspect the vast majority of our decent players will be following him out of the door. I hope I'm wrong but only time will tell.

Bearing in mind he is just leaving by mutual consent who would be expecting to pay any compensation?

Players under contract tend to leave only if sold

Oh well, never mind.

TB will sort it all out and we'll be no worse off, probably better

I just hope some key senior players stick around long enough to allow a smooth transition period

I hope the new contracts have been dealt with by the club and the players knew RDZ was off.

Putting the flip side, when things weren't going so well, perhaps his intensity became pretty wearing for the players. At times, it wasn't obvious that they were all still on board. That's how it looked from the outside anyway. Maybe they won't be as bothered as we fear.

The writing has been on the wall for a while. Fans Q&A raised it even more when you look a PBOBEs tension when answering questions. I’m almost certain lines had already been drawn at that time but positions were being aired publicly. I know who I trust to have the clubs best interests long term in mind. We move on to the next chapter.
