That's the spirit! Pure positive vibes moving forwards.

I'm pleased the vacancies have been filled and look forward to him moving the club onwards and hopefully upwards.

TB will no doubt have built in another tasty buy out clause.

Most importantly is key squad members bond with him and don't miss GP so much. We need a happy training ground.

The players are elite sportsmen...not puppies.

They know how football works, it’s not as if they’d be playing under Potter their entire careers is it?

They’ll be eager to learn new things from a new gaffer.

Yeah, I get that and hope so but they can be a bit sulky.

I think we have an honest hard working bunch of lads. It also opens up opportunities for some fringe players like Mitoma, Lamptey etc.

I for one am look forward to the future.

These aren't the players you're looking for.

I read that he likes to switch to 2-4-4 in attack. I don't see how he can do that without the fullbacks moving into the attacking half

Further to your question, I found this image of his shakhtar donetsk team, in possession lined up in a 2-4-4.

As you can see, it's a defensive formation, designed to encourage the opposition press and create space behind for his forwards to exploit.

I can see Tariq Lamptey and Kaoru Mitoma licking thier lips at the prospect of playing as wingers in that formation, nothing but open space to gallop into.

I wonder if Undav would be more suited to De Zerbi style of play than Welbeck ?

Hard to say really. Both about how we'll play under RDZ and quite what Undav brings to the party.

Wonder if Roberto knows what Berardi's release clause is though... 🧐

After reading this clip from the article previously posted I realised that RDZ just gets it.....

Super League

De Zerbi was one of the few Italian voices against the European Super League that 12 elite European clubs launched in April 2021. He was in charge of Sassuolo at that time and the Neroverdi were about to face Milan in Serie A. The Rossoneri were among the teams initially taking part in the competition.

“I don’t like to play against Milan because they are part of these three clubs, but if [Sassuolo’s CEO Giovanni] Carnevali forces me, of course, I will go,” he said on the eve of the game.

“I am so angry I spoke about this with the lads for 30 minutes yesterday.

“Football belongs to everyone and is meritocratic. They released a statement at midnight with their new website. It was like putting their flags in a territory they had taken from someone else.

“It’s like the son of a labourer can’t dream of becoming a surgeon, a lawyer or a doctor. It’s as if they had told me as a kid in the schoolyard that the ball’s mine. I’m taking it. Football has a role in society that’s different from other sports.”
