I hung around with him and a guy called Jacko who might come on here around 1995 he was up himself Codner not Jacko. he got away with the wrap of cocaine as his defence was why would I report to a police station (parole conditions) if I knew I had cocaine in my wallet .............Hello Jacko if your watching hows your Thai hooker.........I mean wife.

Sat next two a couple of Olympic whingers at the game on Saturday. Chatting about lazy Albion players of the past and I mentioned Bob Cod. They then went on about how he was (allegedly) a bit of a powder user.

I know he was a lazy sod, but did he also have a reputation for substance abuse too?

Robert Codner did have ability but he was far more often kack than good which made him frustrating to watch as he was nearly always picked in my memory. Talking of Ambrose Mendy, I remember a strange but true moment with him on The Big Breakfast years ago. Taking part in a regular slot that was for just ordinary members of the public he was introduced merely as Ambrose and proceeded to do the old eat 3 jacobs cream crackers in a minute without water and then off he went. Well I thought it was a bit surreal at the time anyway !

He dominated one game at the Goldstone like I have never seen another player dominate before or since - then got himself sent off 5 minutes from time.

Only played well in the bigger games like his superb performance in the 4-1 thrashing of Millwall in the play offs. I heard that West Ham watched him for a while, usually in away games against unfashionable clubs, they soon realised that he would never fulfil his potential. Sad but true.
