Fanstastic signing, and a real coup for Liverpool. Look at the front pairings for the big 4 now:

Liverpool - Keane & Torres

i think the main purpose to buying Keane is he can lead the line with a mediocre partner to just keep the defense busy. bit like Torres. So when Benitez rotation kicks in they still have a top striker who you know is capable of carving chances and goals on his own. Im not sure you will actually see them together that many times. If they do get Barry i might have bet on them too.

If Burble goes too Spurs are royally shafted....mind you 20.3 Million for Keane is good business.. I wonder what that makes Torres ?

We all know what happened, last time we won 5-1:D, we followed it with a cup win.

With the Rotterdam Tournament coming up , who knows:lolol:

Darren Bent just grabbed his 4th goal of the night, who needs Robbie Keane:jester:

this isnt a joke. give him a full season and i think a confident Darren bent will thrive.

Tottenham could have just done a FANTASTIC bit of business for a 28 yr old who is hardly a world beater.

Pity that Robbie Keane manages to drop himself to a level of performance for his country which would mean he'd likely not get picked over Hart if he was here...

I normally agree with yer MYOB, but i think your being too harsh on Robbie here. These days there is far FAR too much pressure on him to peform for Ireland, especially since Duffer decided that he didnt want to be any good anymore. And giving him the captaincy is another step too far (should've been Given imho, despite my reservations about goalie-captains) and heaped even more pressure on him. I really think he suffers from us fans expecting too much of him

I agree about the captaincy, however I'd just like to see some of his Spurs form manage to make it on to the pitch in Croker the odd time... personally I don't expect much from the FAI and the players except not making a joke of the huge amount of money I pay them every year both through the national side and indirectly via the National League. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case of late :(

So is £20.3m, which is what they've just paid for him. (Well, £19m plus a further £1.3m presumably linked to appearances).

Good player, but that is WELL over the odds. Can't believe they were fannying about over a couple of million quid with Villa over Barry, when they then go and splurge £20m on Keane.

madness.

Exactly !

Makes me think there was more to the Barry business than just money.

Perhaps O'Neil has our Gareths best interest at heart and wasn't keen to let the lad go in a side ways move . Know's he's better than that ;)

And i can't disagree with that either. Some of the recent performance have absolutely had me in tears....

Ah so, we agree after all! Thank feck for that :afro:

It's quite easy, Easy. They've not managed to offload Alonso to make money and room in the team for Barry. They have lost Crouch so needed to replace him and have traded up nicely. I think he'll do very well alongside Torres. Someone suggested they should've gone for Berbatov, but I don't think he'd fit in as well to the team, as good as he is.

18 mill still sounds a hell of a lot of money, but that seems to be the market at the mo.

Well either they wanted Barry or they didn't. They offered £16m plus Finnan (whilst still having Alonso on the books). MON held out for a straight cash deal of £18m and Liverpool went cold on it. Just seems a little odd when they're happy to pay well over the odds for Keane (who's a good player, but his best days are probably behind him now), yet won't go an extra £2m to land Barry, who's stock has rarely been higher.

What do I care.
