Road Trip to Hull & Back

Bit of advise for Driving to Hull please?

Minibus load of us going up tomorrow. Been told 2 different routes, either M1/M18 or M11/A1(M)?

Shortest is M1 option 245ish miles, about 4hrs 30mins or A1(M) 267 miles 5hrs plus.

Any views on preferred route?

Asking if people found one easier than the other.

Also got mileages wrong way round, so quickest route is 267 miles shortest route 245.

So I guess the question was shortest or quickest?

Lots of 50mph restrictions on M1 last season, not sure if that's all sorted now or not? I suspect we'll be going A1, but then that's from Hastings, not Brighton.

I used to live in Hull and would advise the M11/A1(M)/M180 option.

Route to Hell / Hull

Would never just do M1 as M40 - A46 - M42 is always easier. But will probably do M11 A1 for tomorrow.

Not that anyone is likely to use this route, but AVOID the M6 between Birmingham and Stafford. V festival will make the traffic absolutely hellish this weekend.

Ah. that could affect the M11 as well!
