RIP Wayne Shorter aged 89.
Saxophonist and composer. One of the greatest Jazz musicians of his generation. Played with the Jazz Messengers, Miles Davis' acoustic and electric fusion bands, Weather Report (with Jaco PastoriRIPus) among others and won ten Grammys.

Never heard of him and I find any jazz other than trad really annoying, it sounds like everyone is playing a different song to me most of the time. Anyway 89 is a decent run RIP

Yes RIP Wayne Shorter. Weather Report, Miles, Grover Washington Jr. and a few others were groundbreaking and sent jazz off in new directions away from old fashioned trad jazz and pseudo-intellectual modern jazz.

There are lots of different types of jazz. Mr Shorter didn’t do what Mrs DiS would call the plinky plonks stuff.

Saw him at the Dome with Weather Report a couple of times many years ago and was absolutely superb. RIP Mr Shorter.
