A poignant reminder to all, just try to be kind to others, physically, verbally and importantly be kind when using a keyboard. You will never really know the damage you may be doing to someone.
Very much this, let’s out of respect to Andy and his loved ones have a week off the more controversial and divisive threads in the hope that we can all thrive in a pleasant environment, even if it is a week.

So sorry to read this. As others have said, I didn’t know him personally but he was very much part of the NSC community and a poster I remember well.

I’m so sorry to hear he was struggling with his mental health, I hate hearing that anyone has had to struggle with that dark place in their life. Particularly poignant when you see how recently he was posting on here.

Very sad. Condolences to all his family and friends. RIP Andy, fellow Seagull.

I’m in total shock. Only last week he offered to help my son. RIP Andy.
The absolute measure of the bloke. Whatever he was suffering, he ALWAYS put that aside to try and help others if he could.

I'll not get bogged down too much in specific anecdotes, but during lockdown and the period that followed he undertook a project of his own making to restore all of the benches in his village that had been donated in memory of others in the preceding years and decades. Nothing else in it for him except making his village a nicer place to be and helping to preserve the memories of those who had lived there before him.

Mental health is a silent killer. Sometimes it the one that looks and act the toughest that needs help. Finding ways of dealing with it is hard to find. Unfortunately in the haulage business mental health problems are high. Sometimes im away in Europe for sometime 4 weeks, 5 of those days a week sleeping in my cab alone. Thank god for the internet and social media where we can video call loved one's, I know this helps me out a lot, even just parking up and scrolling through NSC can lift my mood so I say thank you to all on here. Let's be nice to each other..

RIP seagullwedgee and condolences to the family.

I didn't know him personally, but its always something of a jolt for me when we lose one of our NSC members. Seagullwedgee was a familiar poster on here, I know I'll have read and replied to many of his posts. A sad loss.

RIP fella.

V saddened to hear someone from here as fallen. May Andy rest in peace, I recognise his username for sure. Hoping that those left can take care of themselves and each other in this worst of times. Thinking of them, having been through similar dreadful circumstances.

What terribly sad news :( , but thanks for letting us know @Brian Fantana.

From how often mental health has been discussed on here over recent years, it's clearly something that can affect any of us at any time.

@Brian Fantana - if the family arrange a charity for donations, please share details here - I'll make a donation on behalf of NSC. If there isn't anything formal in place, I'll research an appropriate mental health charity to donate to.
