Shitty little newsagents that charge a fee for paying on card. Is that even legal?

Yes and if I owned a small newsagent I probably say what the bank charges me to allow you to use your card is a rip off too.

Will probably spend the £6.99 each and visit when we next go to Nth Devon.

Money well spent.Try for a night or two in the Red Lion Hotel at the bottom.Make sure you get the land rover ride back up to the top............at our age you just CANNOT be too careful.

I agree fully with those who've said booking fees.

I would like to single out LiveNation for a special mention, where for the bargain price of 4 quid you can print your own tickets at home, so the lucky punter can use their own, paper, ink, electricity and free time to get what is essentially a booking reference.

Ticket companies are all legalised rapists, but that is particularly outrageous.

Why is it never a fixed amount then, they all seem to charge what they like and sometimes say "oh don't worry about it" which leaves me to believe it's an optional way out of stinging a few more pence out of folk.

I've driven down the rates we pay for card transactions over the years and we now pay (off the top of my head) 18p per debit card and 1.4% per Credit Card, plus the terminals themselves cost £15 per month. Newsagents hardly work on the greatest of profit margins as it is so you can't blame them for trying to make people pay cash. Even if you spend a fiver with him it'd cost the poor bloke nearly 4% to let you pay on card

Printer ink cartridges...it doesn't cost much more to buy a new printer, instead of replacing the ink cartridges.

estage agents, complete rip off - all they do is print a pic and put it in a window.

To be fair they do find houses for you.

I'd never seen one before until they pointed some out.

It's amazing they are everywhere.

Good old estate agents, what would we do without them.

ANY product/service after you mention the word 'wedding'.

July's Which? mag wrote about this. They rang hotels to find out the cost of two sit down dinners for 100 guests.

One hotel's fee when it was for a 60th birthday was 25% less than the best deal they had for a wedding

Another quoted up to £1000 less for a birthday menu

Yeah, the Ginger Dog was a bit of a let down when I went on saturday. The Rabbit and Onion Pie with Champ was especially bland.

Food just isn't ballsy enough there.

Squid wasn't brilliantly cooked either actually.

I complained and we got a huge chunk off of our bill.

I had the Rabbit and Onion pie too. The pie was okay but the accompanying champ was a strange choice (oniony mash with oniony pie) and it was unbelievably salty. Seasoning is something any restaurant should be able to do. I had to add green beans to mine - £3 for some beans? I find the habit of charging extra for accompliments annoying, but I don't mind too much if the food justifies the extra cost. £15 for a tiny pie, salty mash, some green beans and onion overload?

My missus had the chilli crab. This tiny little thing which was far too dry and didn't have any heat. It came with a leaf salad (garnish in my book) for £14, so we had to order extra chips. £17.

I can't remember what we had for starters, but I do know that we were unimpressed. So, gastropub prices for ghastly food. At least the beer was nice.

Can well believe it. We told the cake shop it was for a birthday (it's not a traditional wedding cake), but for everything else it's obvious what it's for and you just see the pound signs light up in people's eyes.

Travel agents are also a rip off, but then I've got no sympathy for people that are too lazy to find flights and accommodation themselves.

Aah yes, I had to order some carrots, again for three quid. Awful. The crab dish was a choice of two other memebers of our party and when it turned up I was amazed at the size of it. I was expecting a lot more for 15 quid.

Not a great experience at all.

Clovelly is worth a visit, but I preferred it before it became quite so commercialised and you didn't have to pay.Little bit like a 'village theme park' in a way!

Yes estate agency seems to be money for old rope but at least most of them actually try and get things done quickly for you.

Solicitors on the other hand; Hundreds of pounds in fee's and we're STILL the ones making the calls chasing things up! Fuckers (almost) all if them!

My wife's a solicitor luckily and when buying a flat it's funny how quickly other solicitors get their arses in gear when they find out what she does.

30p to go for a piss? What?!

No wonder people urinate in the street. It's not the money, it's the principle.
